Eva Agnes Polly
WAUNETA -- Eva Agnes Polly, 84, died Wednesday (April 24, 2002) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.
She was born June 19, 1917, to Joseph Iznac and Olga Cecelia (Vlasin) Kerchal on the family farm north of Wauneta. She attended grade school in Hayes County and she graduated from Wauneta High School in 1935. She received her bachelor of arts degree in education with minors in elementary and secondary English. She attended four summers at Chadron State College in Chadron and earned a specialist degree in special education.
On Aug. 3, 1938, she married Russell Earl Polly. The couple made their home in Wauneta. She taught in the classroom for 47 years, including rural schools in Hayes and Chase counties, Hamlet Public Schools and Wauneta Public Schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ramona Kerchal Nordhausen; one son-in-law, Garry Wallin; four grandchildren, Melissa Ann, Michelle Ann, Kelly Lynn and Monica Ann; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Marie and an infant boy.
Survivors include her husband, Russell of Wauneta; one daughter, Patricia Wallin of Imperial; one sister, JoAnn and husband, Rob Vicary of Lincoln; three brothers, Leonard and wife, Frona Kerchal of Benkelman, Keith and wife, Nona Kerchal of Wauneta and Virgil Kerchal, also of Wauneta; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 10 a.m. (MDT), at the First United Methodist Church of Wauneta with Pastor Michael Laing officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
Visitations are Friday, 2-6 p.m. (MDT), at Liewer Funeral home in Wauneta.
Memorial may be left in her name at the funeral home. Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta is in charge of the arrangements.
