Esther E. Boyle
KEARNEY -- Esther E. Boyle, 92, died Monday (June 24, 2002) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born Aug. 9, 1909, to Fred and Cecile (Murtha) Grovert on the Carmody homestead in Hitchcock County. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1927.
In July 1929, she married Daniel Boyle at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. They farmed southeast of Stratton until his death in 1931. She moved to Trenton where she taught school for 17 years, before moving to North Platte where she was a teacher. She moved to Kearney in 1999.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Trenton, The Catholic Daughters, Delta Kappa Gama and American Association of University Women at North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Violet Noreen Maloney and Virginia Grovert.
Survivors include two daughters, Patty Grafel of Trenton and Dorothy and husband, Harlan Furry of Kearney; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton with the Rev. Patrick Murphy officiating. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery at Trenton.
The rosary will be recited Thursday, 7 p.m., at the Herrmann Chapel in Trenton.
Memorials may be given in her name.
