Sallie Bet Teeter
BENKELMAN -- Sallie Bet Teeter, 86, died Monday (Aug. 5, 2002) at Sarah Ann Hester Home in Benkelman.
She was born Dec. 31, 1915, in David County, N.C., to Samuel and Lola (Cook) Ellis. The family moved to Benkelman in 1920. As a young girl, she attended country school near her family's home northwest of Benkelman.
On Feb. 9, 1932, she married Merl Orval Teeter at the Pleasant Valley Friends parsonage. She was a homemaker. The couple retired from the farm in 1962 and moved to Benkelman. They spent several winters in south Texas.
She was a member of the Benkelman Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merl; two infant brothers; two infant sisters; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Enfield, and Ray Draper; sister-in-law, Cassie Lee Ellis; and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Vada and husband, Harold Manning of Stratton, and Lela and husband, Donald Fortkamp of Palisade; three sisters, Lois Enfield, Blanche Draper, Marjorie and husband, James Riesher, all of Benkelman; one brother, Glen Ellis and wife, Betty also of Benkelman; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Ellis of Benkelman; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren;
Funeral services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with Terry Glasco officiating. Interment will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be given in her name, or to Sarah Ann Hester home in Benkelman.
