Albert 'Red' J. Campbell
SELDEN -- Albert "Red" J. Campbell, 81, died Saturday (Sept. 21, 2002) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born March 3, 1921, to Melvin and Rose (Zimmerman) Campbell at Beresford, S.D. He was raised in Beresford and Hawarden, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Aug. 24, 1959, he married Elda (Kincaid) Brown in Goodland, Kan. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Elda of Selden; five daughters, Shirley and husband, Omar Weber of Colby, Kan., Charlene and husband, Leon Werth of Park, Kan., Deanna and husband, Jerry Effington of Gardner, Kan., Janice and husband, Joe Kruse of Selden and Kathy and husband, Jeff Rains of Hoxie, Kan.; two sisters, Evelyn and husband, Albert Ross of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Rosie Frye of California; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today, 11 a.m., at the Selden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Fincham officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Selden Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Selden United Methodist Church or the Lions Club.
