Richard 'Stanley' Williams

Richard "Stanley" Williams,86, died Saturday (Sept. 21, 2002) at the Veteran's Nursing Home in Grand Island.

He was born Feb. 3, 1916, at Orleans to Herbert E. and Olga M. (Samuelson) Williams. He graduated from Atlanta High School on May 23, 1934.

On May 15, 1938, he married Ada M. Jewel at Elmonte, Calif. He entered the US Army in 1945 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1947.

He spent most of his life in the Holdrege community and was employed in maintenance for the Nebraska Department of Roads until his retirement. In the late 1970's they moved to the McCook community. In 1996 they moved to Highland Park. He entered the Grand Island Veteran's home in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Olga Williams; three sisters, Alice Harkness, Marguerite Johnson and Edith Swindell; and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Neal Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Ada Williams, of McCook; and son, Richard Williams, Jr. of Denver, Colo.

Graveside inurnment services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
