Dora V. Gundlach
HASTINGS -- Dora V. Gundlach, 80, died Thursday (Nov. 7, 2002) at her home.
She was born Feb. 14, 1922, to Willard and Maude (Cunningham) Nicholson in Lamar. She graduated from Palisade High School.
On Oct. 6, 1944, she married Walter J. Gundlach. She worked for the Palisade Times as a linotypist. During World War II, she worked on the ships in Tacoma, Wash. In 1952, she moved from Chicago, Ill., to Hastings. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Acacia Chapter 39 of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vera Zielke and Buryle Phares; and one brother, Timothy Nicholson.
Survivors include her husband, Walter J. Gundlach of Hastings; one son, Michael Gundlach and wife, Diane of Hastings; two daughters, Sherry Gundlach of Nebraska City and Cathy and husband, Steven Whetzel of Dexter, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Coletta and husband, Eugene Novak of Lombard, Ill.; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Hastings with Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens at Hastings.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m., with the family present from 7-8 p.m.; and Tuesday, one hour prior to service at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Shriners Hospital or to the family.
