Laura Elizabeth Huxoll

ARAPAHOE -- Laura Elizabeth Huxoll, 98, died Tuesday (March 18, 2003) at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

She was born Dec. 23, 1904, south of Arapahoe, to Henry and Maudie (Trunnell) Koeteman.

On Dec. 19, 1923, she married Fred W. Huxoll in Norton, Kan. They lived on a farm near the Muddy Creed in Furnas County. They purchased their home south of Holbrook. She moved to the Sunshine Village in Arapahoe in August of 1984. In 1992, she moved to the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center.

In March of 1925, she was baptized and became a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church of rural Arapahoe. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cambridge and later joined Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe on Nov. 4, 1992. She was also a member of the Sunny Southside Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Laurel; son-in-laws, Joe ten Bensel, Lloyd Golter, George E. Riepe, Chester Hilker and Clarence Tracy; a brother, Frank Koeteman; a sister, Gladys Richard; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson.

Survivors include five sons, Wayne Huxoll and wife, Judy, Charles Huxoll and wife, Beverly, and Norman Huxoll and wife, Dorothy all of Holbrook, Martin Huxoll and wife, Brenda and James Huxoll and wife, LeAnn all of Cambridge; six daughters, Marjorie ten Bensel, Violet Hilker and June Tracy of Arapahoe, Twyla Golter and Betty Riepe of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Isabelle and husband, Alvin Pfeiffer of Arapahoe; 35 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 2:30 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Burial will be at St. Matthews Cemetery of rural Arapahoe.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home and prior to services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given in her name.
