Henry Schlager
CULBERTSON -- Henry Schlager, 96, died Sunday (April 13, 2003) at the El Dorado Manor Home in Trenton.
He was born Oct. 4, 1906, in Neu Denhoff, Russia, to Henry and Elizabeth (Rutz) Schlager Sr. The Schlager family came to the United States in 1913. He received his education at the Lutheran German School at McCook. In the fall of 1922, they moved to Culbertson where they farmed. Following his father's retirement, he continued farming the family farm until retiring in 1968. He has resided at the El Dorado Manor Home since July of 1999.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jake Schlager and LeRoy Schlager; and two sisters, Elizabeth Wagner and Lydia Alberts.
Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Smith of Culbertson and Maria Turner of Norton, Kan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Bryan Hopfensperger officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.
Friends may call at the Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson.
