Lincoln Marathon turns into reunion for Mitch Light familiy
LINCOLN -- Forty-three of Mitch Light's family members attended the Lincoln Marathon May 4, to run, walk or cheer in celebration of the completion of Mitch's Mission, which he completed in August and returned from Quatar to join his family this year in the marathon.
Twelve members of the family joined Light, of Chase, Kan., in the marathon including, Light's sister, Diane, and Chris Rich of Cambridge, another sister, Becky Redl of McCook, and Light's daughter, Gaylynn Butts of Kansas City, Mo.
Other family members participating included, Phyllis Gertge and Lynn Clise from Fort Morgan, Colo., Lori Russell of Milliken, Colo., Leslie Shaver of Brush, Colo., and John, Nathan and Jamie Scheopner of Garden City, Kan.
Family members cheering from the sidelines were Harold and Irene Light, Connor, Mackenzie and Weston Rich, and Derik Light of Cambridge; Doug, Deb, Josh, Joe, Jeff and Beth Ann Pickinpaugh and Myra Sjomeling of Elwood; Donovan, Breanna and Cassidy Redl of McCook; Michele Winkleman of Kansas City, Mo.; Lana, Grady and Wade Schamberger of Fort Morgan, Colo.; Park and Chloe Russell of Milliken, Colo.; Mallory, Clay and Hank Shaver of Brush, Colo.; Harold and Mary Lou Scheopner of Atchison, Kan.; Liz and Erin Scheopner and Emilee Ellis of Garden City, Kan.; and Kendra Scheopner of Lincoln.
