Area spikers names as All-Stars
SCOTTSBLUFF -- Several area volleyball players have been selected for the 19th annual Western Nebraska All-Star Volleyball game, scheduled for Saturday, June 7 in Scottsbluff.
The 12 members for the East and West squads were selected from nominations by their respective high school coach.
East squad members from the area are Jessica Allberry of McCook High School; Kayla Brooks and Danielle Stritt, both of Republican Valley; and Sara Wagner of Culbertson High School.
The East squad will be led by Bernie Crow of Arnold High School with Judy Newcomb of Cambridge as her assistant coach.
The West squad will be coached by Marci Harding of Garden County High School and Todd Menghini of Scottsbluff as the assistant.
The 2003 West Nebraska All-Star game will be June 7 at Cougar Palace on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff with a 2 p.m. MDT starting time.
Other East squad members include Chelsea Cunning of Sutherland, Meagan Ellis and Jami Pomplun of Broken Bow, Chelsey Lehmkuhler and Kendra McDowell of Arnold, Nicole McLeod of Thedford, Mandy Nelson of Paxton and Tiffany Roemmich of Lexington.
The West squad includes Valerie Armstrong of South Platte, Brittany Cooper of Banner County, Jayme Gortemaker of Garden County, Morgan Lofing of Scottsbluff, Jamie Mills and Leslie Reeh of Alliance, Mandy Morgan Kelsey Sherich of Ogallala, Kayla Pelton and Breanna Storbeck of Crawford, Regan Pettijon of Gering and Mallory Stone of Gordon.
A portion of the proceeds from the West Nebraska All-Star Games benefit the TeamMates Program of Nebraska and the Scotts Bluff County Volunteer Center.
