Melba L. Anderson

OBERLIN -- Melba L. Anderson, 94, died Friday (June 13, 2003) at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

She was born March 21, 1909, in Traer, to Wade and Maude (Claussen) Waldo. She attended grade school in Traer and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1926. She attended one year of college at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Boulder, Colo.

She was married to Russell T. Anderson. They lived in Traer and moved to Boulder in 1969. They moved to Oberlin in 1977, and she became a resident of Cedar Living Center in 1983. She was a homemaker and former teacher.

She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and president of M.L.W.W. Anderson Farms, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell T. Anderson; and a son, Waldo "Andy" Anderson.

Survivors include four granddaughters, Kirsten and husband, Shane Burress of Brighton, Colo., Katherine Anderson and friend, Jack Tanner of Denver, Colo., Cynthia Easler of Asheville, N.C., and Corey and husband, Pete Fox of Syracuse, Mo.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Charlotte Streckler-Baseler officiating. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon at the funeral home and after noon at the church.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Melba Anderson Memorial Fund.
