Kenneth 'Lee' Davidson
Kenneth "Lee" Davidson, 80, died Tuesday (June 17, 2003) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born July 20, 1922, at Indianola, to Archibald Lorne and Floy Almina (Carpenter) Davidson. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1940.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force on Sept. 9, 1942, serving during World War II, on the Island of Saipan, Pendleton, Ore., Moses Lake, Wash., Salina, Kan., and Tinker Field, Okla. He was honorably discharged Dec. 27, 1945.
On Feb. 26, 1944, he married Betty Marie Quigley at Smoky Hill Air Force Base Chapel in Salina. He joined his father in the Davidson Gravel Company and was a U.S. Postal Contractor for more than 40 years until his retirement in June of 2000.
He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church; Indianola Fire Department for 29 years; fire chief for 10 years; member of the Board of Education for 12 years; Benevolent Patriotic Order of Eagles since 1972; Indianola Planning Board; Indianola Councilman; Veterans Service Committee; American Legion Post No. 344 since 1942; Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 5826; McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434; and bingo worker.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Floy Davidson in 1954; his father, Archibald Davidson in 1963; and a daughter, Debi Cullen in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Davidson of Indianola; two sons, David Davidson and wife, Connie, of McCook and Tom Davidson and wife, Joellyn, of Indianola; two daughters, Nanci and husband, Tom Stritt, of Indianola and Lisa and husband, Don Felker, of McCook; and 18 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery of Indianola.
The rosary is today at 7:30 p.m., at Carpenter Funeral Home of Indianola.
Visitation is today until time for rosary at the funeral home in Indianola.
