Paul R. 'Butch' Ross
CULBERTSON -- Paul R. "Butch" Ross, 65, died Tuesday (August 19, 2003) at his home in Culbertson as a result of cancer.
He was born Jan. 11, 1938, to Daniel and Vesper (Roberts) Ross at the St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook.
He attended country school until the 5th grade and finished his elementary and high school education at Culbertson Public School in 1955. He attended the University of Kearney for a semester.
On Aug. 19, 1956, he married Joylyn Kay Brown at the United Methodist Church in Culbertson.
He farmed in the Culbertson area his entire life and resided on the Ross family farm from 1966 until his death. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, McCook Elks Club and former T-Bone Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; his paternal grandparents, Adam and Mary Ross; maternal grandparents, Chester and Bessie Roberts; and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife, Joylyn Ross of Culbertson; son, Kirt Ross and wife, Cindy of Wasilla, Alaska; two daughters, Karma and husband, Kevin Rousselle and Kindra and husband, Alan Oberg, all of Culbertson; his mother, Vesper Ross of Culbertson; mother-in-law, Blanch Brown of Culbertson; sister, Virginia and husband, Walt Zobela, of Shorewood, Minn.; one brother, Bob Ross and wife, Mary Lou, of Culbertson; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services are Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Pastors Dan Spearow and Clark Bates officiating. Interment will be at the Culbertson Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday until 8 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Memorial may be given in his name.
