Unit returns from deployment

Dressed in their desert camo uniforms, 66 members of the U.S. Army Reserve 1013th Quartermaster Co. were welcomed home Saturday by hundreds of supportive family members and friends.

The soldiers were mobilized Feb. 2 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon activation, the unit reported to Fort Riley, Kan., for mobilization processing and training. In March, the unit was deployed to Camp Scorpion, Prince Hassan Air Base, Jordan.

The soldiers provided laundry and renovation services to the troops in support of the war.

"This is a group of good solid soldiers coming home from good families," said Maj. Gen. Michael Symanski. "The mission was accomplished according to the higher standards. The 1013th is a great unit and each of you are great soldiers that make it a great unit."

McCook Mayor Jerda Garey told the soldiers their families and the entire community of McCook had supported them through their deployment.

But now, she told them, "Go home, God speed and God bless America."
