Firework stands were allowed to open this past weekend, creating a surge of sales to start off the season. “It definitely makes a difference on what days we start selling,” said Renelle Mooney of the “Ka-boomers 1/2 Price Fireworks.” Operated by the Peace Lutheran Church for its junior/senior youth group, Mooney said sales since the first day rush have been steady and actually higher than last year.That may have something to due with the COVID-19 pandemic shut-down and “kids and families being cooped up,” she said. ...
