President Donald Trump is receiving opposition to the candidacy of Betsy DeVos, a wealthy GOP donor who promotes charter schools and private schools. She never attended public school herself and did not send her children to a public school. It is not surprising that there is so much opposition to her being confirmed education secretary. Obviously we need someone as the education secretary who is knowledgeable and sees all sides of our country's educational challenges...

Gross gets new principal title, teacher pay OK'd

McCOOK, Neb. -- Jeff Gross's title has been switched from "interim" to permanent McCook High School principal. Superintendent Grant Norgaard made the announcement Monday night at the regular McCook Board of Education meeting. Norgaard said Gross, who is also the head high school football coach, was first appointed as an interim to "see how things went."
