Treating teeth in the 1890s
(Letter to the Editor ~ 05/26/15)
Most of this treatise and inspiration is taken from the Wakefield Republican article of May 8, 2014. Anything Republican has to be worth while reading , so I decided to write about early Dentists. If your love life is somewhat normal like this Ivies', if you are tired of flying with Col. Trail, and you are exhausted from worrying about the Rapture, maybe enlightening you about 1890s Dentistry is just the thing needed to bolster your spirits...

Body parts needed
(Column ~ 05/26/15)
Being Memorial Day weekend this old veteran, Vietnam, spent considerable time touring a couple cemeteries. As part of a volunteer crew we placed "Old Glory" on every grave that could be identified as belonging to a veteran. I found it poignant to read the gravestones of departed relatives, friends and neighbors no matter their station in life veteran or no. In my view all people are persons of worth and it is well to honor them in life as well as in death...

Holocaust survivors' perspective
(Letter to the Editor ~ 05/26/15)

This brought back memories of my classmates at Dora Moore elementary school in Denver. Some of them were children of Jewish families who had escaped from Hitler's domination of Europe. Their stories of relatives in those concentration camps have left a lasting impression on me...

The Flood of 1935 -- When Southwest Nebraska felt Mother Nature's wrath
(Local News ~ 05/26/15)
McCOOK, Neb. -- What more could go wrong? It was summer 1935 in Nebraska. It was dry, and dirty. There was nothing to stop the wind but the barbed wire. Grasshoppers, descending in swarms of biblical proportions, ate everything in sight. A five-year drought continued its strangle-hold on the Midwest. The heat, even at the end of May, even before summer started, was already just about unbearable...
