NRD vows zero tolerance on water cheating

ALMA, Nebraska -- A downstream Natural Resources District says it won't tolerate cheating on water use like that which recently brought steep penalties in the Upper Republican NRD, according to a Tuesday news release. County contributes funding for juvenile pre-trial diversion program

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Red Willow County commissioners approved an $8,000 contribution Monday morning to Lutheran Family Services, which runs the county's juvenile pre-trial diversion program. Chris Berry of McCook, who coordinates Red Willow's diversion program and those for Furnas, Hitchcock, Hayes and Dundy counties, told commissioners during their weekly meeting that the program provided diversion for 48 clients, 28 of those from Red Willow County, from July 2009 to June 2010...

Volunteers are lining up today and Thursday at the Community Building at the Red Willow County Fairgrounds, giving blood for one of the regular blood drives conducted by the American Red Cross. The drive was to be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and we hope everyone who was able to give blood did so, or will consider doing so...
