The McCook Midget Baseball Association, Inc. Cubs Division Wal-Mart Championship Tournament was played Thursday-Sunday at Felling Field. Wal-Mart sponsored the tournament with trophies and medals. For the second time in two years the sixth-seeded team won the tournament...

McCook High School senior-to-be Tyrone Sellers has committed. On Monday, Sellers informed head coach Mark Mangino that he is committed to playing NCAA Division I football for the Kansas Jayhawks. Sellers, 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end/tight end, garnered offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa and Wyoming and was also being recruited by Stanford, Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, Connecticut and Texas Christian to name a few...

We're all feeling the pinch at the gasoline pump, but the food bill is no picnic, either. While we're finding ways to burn less gasoline, it's no fun, especially during the summer hot-dog-and-hamburger season, to try to cut back in that area of the budget...

People grumbling about paying taxes is par for the course this time of year, with the second half of property taxes due before Sept. 1. But the grumbling has taken a new twist, as almost daily at the Red Willow County Treasurer's office, taxpayers have been requesting a refund of taxes collected by LB701...

I hate bumps. At least I think I do, because if I find one, I can't let it alone until it is picked smooth. Once, while chatting on the telephone at my sister-in-law's house, I found a bump under the paint on the door frame to the basement. So, I picked it smooth. ...
