The McCook City Council will appoint seven members from the community to serve on a sales tax ballot committee, at its regular meeting Monday night at 7:30, at City Council Chambers in Memorial Auditorium. Council members voted to create the committee at its last meeting July 2. This committee will create the language and assist in the selection of projects to be funded by sales tax revenue...

HAYES CENTER -- The road leading from Hayes Center to the Lincoln County line was supposed to be hard-surfaced, but in the past few years the Highway 25 route has turned into little more than a gravel road. Over the years, moisture seeped in between the base and the surface, turning the aggregate and asphalt into mush...

Four days of rain in a row, such as McCook experienced this week, must prove that the drought is over, right? Not necessarily, according to the records. Yes, we've received 16.39 inches of rain so far this year -- 6.92 inches ahead of last year at this time in McCook, and we're 3.79 inches ahead of normal for the month of July -- statistically the wettest month of the year...

At the last meeting of the McCook City Council, the members received working copies of next year's budget. One copy of the proposed budget went to the library for public access but in the two weeks now passed it has not been a real popular item with the potential taxpayers...
