I checked with one of my favorite council members concerning meeting last Monday and was assured that the McCook City Council meeting was on. Usually the council does not meet on the 5th Monday of the month but this being a new council and a new city manager I figured the rules had probably changed. No the council didn't meet, the Councilman was just eager because she likes the job so much and I won't even mention her name!...

I have a good friend who talks to me often about losing the love of his life. I listen because that's what friends do. I wanted to share his story with my readers because I know some of you are in or have been in a similar situation. It's been sometime now since she left. His heart was broken and his life was shattered, he says, sometimes to the point that it was a chore to just make it through the day...

It's bitterly cold outside, but all the more reason for staying in a comfortable place to watch this weekend's Super Bowl festivities. We snuggle warm in our beds at night, listening to the furnace run and wondering, absent mindedly, what the natural gas tally will be next month...
