As I read the comments from Mr. Batty on the purposed City/County Public Safety Center/Jail, I was disappointed that he painted such a gloomy picture of the future of McCook, thankfully our forefathers didn't and my guess is his father didn't have that picture either...

Anyone who has gone on vacation, been confined to a hospital room or lost all contact with anyone over the age of five can relate to being clueless about current events. You return home after several days away and flip on the radio, catching a news story in midstream, only to be left scratching your head...

Community Hospital's new rehabilitation center is taking shape, with wooden beams in place to support the roof and add beauty to the design. Crews hope to have the structure enclosed soon, before winter weather sets in.

A school administrator has barred visitors from Reading First classes for two days at McCook Elementary, setting off a wave of protests from upset parents. McCook Elementary Principal Kathy Latta said the school had been "inundated" with visits from parents recently and closed the classrooms during Reading First so "kids have the time they need to have a normal instructional period."...
