McCook 8th grade boys sweep three games

The McCook Junior High School eighth grade boys hosted the Chase County Shorthorns Wednesday night and ended the night with three wins. In the A game, McCook got the win 39-31 and were led by Seth Schaeffer who scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds. Bleachers removed from Kiplinger arena

Red Willow County fair board members refused, during an emergency meeting Wednesday, to change the offer they felt on Sunday could put an end to a fiasco over the bleachers in the Kiplinger Arena on the fairgrounds in McCook. On Monday, county commissioners echoed the fair board's motion -- to offer the bleacher company a fee "not to exceed $6,000" to provide, by March 1, bleacher plans, designs and calculations that would meet or exceed international building codes...

Woman rescued from icy pond (Local News ~ 01/27/05)
Three men eating their lunches in Barnett Park Wednesday afternoon rescued a McCook woman, "cold and scared," but unharmed, after she fell through the ice on the park's big pond trying to reach her dog. Devin Allen of Culbertson said he threw a tow rope from his pickup to the woman, and with help from Richard Gardner of Wauneta and Eugene Cheney of McCook, pulled her to the bank...
