One of the real paradoxes in this country is the tension between law and freedom. It's paradoxical because in a land founded on the concept of freedom, we have more laws prohibiting more behaviors than any other country in the world. The scholars call this "limited freedom" and attempt to make the case that the more free a society is, the more laws we have to have because being free leads some people to make bad choices and those people must be protected from themselves...

Cathy Schultz leaned into the comfort of her cousin's arms as she tried to regain her composure and continue singing ... "Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin'. The investigation into the death of Moreau is continuing. His body was found early Sunday morning in the parking lot at the McCook Housing Agency. An autopsy report showed he died of blunt force trauma to the head. According to witnesses, Moreau was seen at LaCocina Restaurant between 12:30 and 1 a.m. ...
