If you're anything like the majority of people, thoughts about life that far into the future are few and far between. Most folks have enough trouble dealing with the challenges of everyday life, let alone finding time to think about what's going to be happening a number of years down the road...

Dear Editor, The facts are in, look at the Nebraska players in trouble that drink. Everyone wants to ban the smokes but the alcohol is "OK." Someone please get their head out of the sand. Cigarettes and alcohol both are killers, if you raise taxes on one, why not the other?...

My computer is tired. It thinks a long time before finishing a task. Things it once did with ease now take a good while to process. That's understandable. After all, in "computer years," ours is getting up there. It has more to consider than it did six years ago, when we first brought it home...

Frieda Wagner, 98, died Friday (Oct. 11, 2002) at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village, in Hastings. She was born Feb. 28, 1904, at McCook, to John and Anna Margaret (Frick) Wagner. She attended school in McCook. She was employed for more than 35 years as a sales clerk for DeGroff's Department Store, retiring in 1970. She was a resident of McCook for 81 years and had been residing in Hastings for the past 17 years...
