Curling Irons
Over the last few decades, I have purchased my fair share of curling irons. I don't have to have the fancy dance irons that crinkle or flatten hair. A nice, dependable iron that works more than three days when taken it out of the package would be helpful.
For the few years, I have been purchasing the irons with the ½ inch barrels. They usually work pretty slick for my short, straight hair. I have gotten to the point I usually will buy a spare just to have on hand. I learned that little trick from years of living in a small village that it would require a 22 mile round trip if the iron decided to quit since the convenience store or local watering holes didn't carry such items. This was necessary also since the curling iron will only malfunction on a morning when I have to go to work . They never quit on a weekend when there is time to shop.
The theory about having a spare had to work in reverse. It was probably a good thing I wasn't in a huge hurry to throw out the old iron last week. I had utilized the same brand of iron for a long time but it was not working too well. It was time to swap out the irons. The backup was not the same brand I had purchased previously, so I thought I would try it.
However, after just a few days, the new iron's spring sprung on a work morning. It was not fixable because the entire thing seems to come apart in my hand. Seriously, do these stupid things really have to fall apart when I have somewhere to be? (Rhetorical question by the way.) While I would have liked to return the non-working one to the store of purchase, I could not remember whether it was purchased. That issue will be solved next time by taping the receipt to the newly purchased square.
Thankfully I was able to use the old iron to finish up the hairdo for the day. After work, I had to go and purchase for a new iron. Naturally, as my luck would have it, the smallest barrel available was ¾ inch. That ¼ inch does make a difference but it was not meant to be this purchase.
Maybe it is a sign for a little longer hairdo or maybe I need two back up curling irons.
