Holiday Procrastinator
While I haven't been a holiday bah humbug all the time, this year is a struggle not to be one. I am not trying to offend those folks who absolutely, positively live for Christmas by any means. My get-up-and-go for the holidays must be on extended back order. I finally put up the Christmas tree with four days to spare. Now, there would be those Christmas tree purists that would say all I did was put up a tree, add an angel and plug in the lights. They would be correct. The ornaments are still in the boxes and will stay that way. I suppose I could try to sell the idea that a minimalist tree is appropriate but I don't think the family is going to buy that.
I just could not muster up the gumption to get the ornaments or foo foo stuff out of their storage. The Christmas letter is still in the draft stage in the letter file on the computer. It will probably stay there.
I did buy gifts and did get things mailed that needed to get to the western Nebraska. However I will most likely purchase gift cards for those distance family members next year as it cost me close to a Benjamin Franklin to mail the packages. I thought for a minute I would have to call the rescue squad because I thought I was going to hyperventilate and pass out when the total cost came up on the screen.
Maybe it isn't lack of spirit but simply a bad case of holiday procrastination. I have a minimalist tree. I am saving the environment by not sending out letters (yet). I got an abbreviated cardio workout when I shocked at the postage to mail gifts. I did purchase gifts so everything isn't a total wash.
I had better close and get back to my procrastination.
Merry Christmas to all.
