Eye of the Tiger
I am a late bloomer into the world of fantasy football leagues. I had heard about these before but this season was my first attempt at a computerized fantasy league. Our team names are supposed to be music related somehow. This was set up by our league commissioner. Some people took play on word titles. I picked "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky. Thought it couldn't hurt. (Side note- for those who don't know - the fantasy leagues are based on real professional players and the points are somehow figured on their weekly performances.)
The league I participate in consists of Ballroom Blitz, A Boy Names Suh, AchyBreakyHeartAttack, Brady Gaga, Barely Manly-O, I'll Fly Away, CMC Chili Peppers, Luckenbach Texas, and Beat It.
I won my first two match ups and then I couldn't pick right to save my soul. I was trying to do this without any help from Hubby. The last two weeks have improved but I am not certain I will pick wisely enough to make the playoffs. I am just pleased I have won as many as I have, however.
Now, I have lived with and been around football fans since I was a kid. Sunday afternoons and Monday nights were football games on the TV. When I got married, there was much more football around being married to a coach. I had no interest what-so-ever in the sport and I was usually very vocal and crabby about the seemingly endless football games on the TV or being listened to on the radio.
However being in this fantasy league has made me pay a bit more attention. Now, I am the one yelling at the danged TV when one of my fantasy players or the fantasy defense don't do very well. I perk up during ESPN reports. What is up with that anyway?
Then to top it off today, the other gals (yes - gals) in the league and I were discussing FOOTBALL today. Seriously, I was having a conversation about football players. We discussed the playoff chances and who we would trade if we didn't make the playoffs!
I had to laugh about my entire league participation because if someone had told me a year ago that I would be talking football with the other gals around the proverbial water cooler, I would have poo-pooed the idea vehemently. But now, it is race to the computer on Tuesday mornings to get the final standings of the weeks match up and a start of the plotting of next week's strategy. Seriously! What is up with that? LOL
