Ode to All Class Reunion
One of my first Poems I posted, in 2010, as a comment to Dawn Cribs article, I resubmit to my poetry blog at this time:
Ode to All Class Reunion
By Arley Steinhour 070210
We are gathered here together,
To share a bite or two;
To remember all those good old days
We lived through, me and you.
We raised up, I hope, our family,
And sent them on their way;
To make their mark on history,
In their own unique way.
We did our part in history,
But do not know the score;
Did we run the race successful,
Or should have done much more?
The women, most had husbands,
And the guys most had a wife;
Some are still together,
They've earned their drum and fife.
Our bodies and our faces,
Have altered quite a bit;
Some have stayed real close to young,
And others, uh, turned to spit.
Don't worry bout the body folks,
For I still know a Guy;
Who resurrects the dead one's,
And teaches live ones how to fly.
In just a moment of a tick,
We change, and leave this place;
To Bema judgment, of reward,
New body, and New face.
So, pat each other on the back,
And say I'm glad you're here;
Then walk away, and shake your head,
And sip on your warm beer;
A toast to you, a toast to me,
We've lived life tough, so far;
But the hour's late, I cannot wait,
To go and find my car.
AMEN
