Out of Breath
Out of Breath
By Arley Steinhour 103117
The grass turned White with Fright, today,
As the Snow concluded the warmth of Summer,
To celebrate this day of Halloween Display,
As children, this eve, knock and Stammer.
‘Trick or Treat,’ through lips so Blue,
With Freezing breeze, softly blowing,
In Costumes, beneath a Coat or two,
Yet, no matter the weather, ‘Glowing.’
On this day of Ghost, and Goblin, abounding,
As they entreat for Goodies, behind the Door,
Sometimes, door opens with Scary-Howling,
As Occupant’s are bedecked, as a ‘Thing to Abhor.’
Long ago, Seven-Tens of long years passed,
On occasion, Trick or Treat, received a Trick,
Usually a Joke, and very rarely, ‘Half-f’ast,’
Long before Drug, and Blade, inserts, so ‘SICK.’
Today, Revelers be in danger, from Sick-Occupant,
Sometimes to the horror, of ‘Untimely Death,’
Mom’s and Dad’s need check the items, then Grant,
Control the consume, until, you’re ‘Out of Breath.’
(or they have ‘Scarfed it all’)
AMEN
