Temptations of Strife
Temptations of Strife
By Arley Steinhour 043017
The beauty of a Snowy Day,
When, Rain should be the Fare,
Most might wish the Snow Away,
But, most, I fear, won’t Really Care.
They, shrug the shoulder, crack a smile,
And, head off, to daily corruption,
In the attempt to perfect their Style,
Finding Fault, in Conservative Construction.
Today, we have a ‘man, in charge,’
Swearing to return our Nation’s Greatness,
The Task for him, is Larger than Large,
As, ‘We the People Muddle,’ in ‘Mental Faintness.’[
About Half, say, ‘Go,’ and other Half, ‘No,’
Like, Cat’s in the Alley, we Slash, and Shout,
Fang and Claw, through a ‘Legal Show,’
Especially when, ‘Constitution’s Locked Out.’
Each Side, decries, the other as Villain,
Heralding their own Opinion, as ‘Proof,’
Of, ‘Saving the Day,’ as once did, Penicillin,
Little, some know, ‘One’ Feeds ‘Satanic Spoof.’
One Side, looks to man, the other to God,
To find and know the Answers to Life,
Be it, ‘Under the Rod,’ or, God’s Guiding Nod,
To overcome, the ‘Temptations of Strife.’
Some are Proud to be, American and Christian,
Knowing, the Path is Rough, but, ‘End is Sure;’
Life is easier, when we know the Destination,
Death is for Mortals, and Eternity, the Cure.
Eternity, then, has Two Places to Spend,
Timeless, ‘Joy,’ or ‘Torment,’ for the Others,
‘Reborn, or Not,’ without doubt, can ‘Depend,’
Eternity, in ‘Heaven or Hell,’ the ‘Only Druthers.’
AMEN
