FREEDOM WILL GO AWAY
FREEDOM WILL GO AWAY
By Arley Steinhour 122716
(inspired by Article on Cops Refused Service, because 'Armed.')
Stupidity lives, Coast to Coast,
The only 'Cleanser' is Holly Ghost,
A reminder for me, of Sixty-Three,
When Service refused, to friends, and me.
We'd just graduated, from Submarine School,
Headed home on Leave, we were so Cool,
'Decked-out' in our 'Cracker-Jacks,' Dress-Blue,'
Proud of our Country, and Service, Selves too.
Restaurant forbade Soldiers, Sailors, too,
Our hunger was growling, What we did do,
A bit of 'Sweet-talk,' and we were seated,
In a booth for four, Six of us competed.
Dining Room, about ten feet away,
Was Vacant, 'that's how it would stay,
Until a 'Roles,' parked at front door,
Woman's reception, 'Regal,' and more.
Swept to the Dining room, feet away,
We could hear the negatives she did say,
About the 'Low Life,' they catered to,
Apologies, vociferous, but we were through.
Intending no 'Tip' for Service Gratuity,
They'd tacked on a 'Twenty percent Annuity.'
Their Restaurants had Franchise, alone,
Serving Expressway food; that 'set our jawbone.'
We'd had enough, and refused the 'Bight,'
Even if it meant jail-time, more than a night,
With 'raucous' louder, owner, had second-sight,
The 'Rich-Witch,' was anxious; that ended a fight.
Attitudes like that, are now, on our Freedom Tray,
Extending to, the 'Street Blue, our Civil, Stay,'
If, 'We the People,' don't 'Wake Up, 'TODAY,'
'FREEDOM,' we have now, 'WILL GO AWAY!'
AMEN
