My Advance Directive

As Bekah's Dad, I take this opportunity, <> To Plea, that the 'Lost,' take this time, <> To, 'Get Right with Jesus, for Serenity, <> Repenting, to be Innocent of 'All Sin-Crime.' <>

I offer, what my daughter wrote,
And, give it wings, so it will Float,
Across Space and Time, God's 'Moat,'
So, God's Will, she might Emote:

"I had an assignment to write my own advance directive a couple years ago...so here it is":

My Advance Directive

Do not stand on my chest and thump,
My heart has stopped, it will not pump.
The years of heartbreak have broken its stride,
The long nights of holding pale hands as they died.

For years wiping tears from the face of a soul,
While handing their lifeless child to hold,
The days filled with laughter, with wonder and tears,
Endless names and faces touched over the years.

With shaking hands and shuttering heart,
I don't want a shock to make it restart.
Do not give me liquid food to eat,
I've spent my life eating potatoes and meat.

Over many a day, I've felt hunger within,
As the budgets of nurses stay starvingly thin.
If that hunger returns for the last day or two,
I'll remember those times and be glad they were few.

Do not stand at my bed with water,
To give me through tubes, don't even bother.
You see me in bed, with my life growing dim,
But God beckons me forward, to draw me to him.

For years, I've spent my life serving those
As angels came forward and ended their woes.
So now at the end of my task, I desire,
You let me go gently, with nary a wire.

So, when I breathe out that last warmth of air,
Please tell all my loved ones, I'm no longer there.
Just tell them I wanted to leave as I came,
With a heart open wide, and 'Love' as my name.
