Ode to Red Skelton
Ode to Red Skelton

(Inspired by Eric Newcomen
Eric Newcomen, I thank you,
Even though, I tell you True,
Red Skelton hit me from the Blue,
A man of Humor, and skills, not Few.
I grew to love his incessant laugh,
Each one, much like, taking a Bath,
He washed away, my childhood Fears,
And, gave me reason to speak my cheers.
He played a part in my formative years,
To a point, that Red, brought me to Tears,
Through him, I learned to love the land of the Free,
Through many, Life Battles, twas just him, and me.
I could have surrendered, but, Red wouldn't let me,
Long before explaining, 'Pledge of the Free,
My hat was like his, as it changed my personality,
To fit the worst of strife at hand, ever so Handily.
Hours, just spent, letting 'Red' rebuild my thought,
To Strengthen my Faith, that so few, have bought,
I know that Lord Jesus, will come, Bail us Away,
No matter the time, but one, very soon, Day.
AMEN
