At the Foot of the Cross II
At the Foot of the Cross II
By Arley Steinhour
(revised 040115)
At the foot of the Cross, I offer my heart,
All of my soul, my every part,
For there you hang, waiting for me,
Blessing me so that all can see.
'Today,' you say, with Love in your eye,
'In Paradise, a place for you in the sky.'
My sinful ways scream in my mind,
'you can't go, you must stay behind.'
The moan I utter, you do not miss,
'I rebuke you Satan,' your words do hiss,
Be gone from us, my son and I.'
By now, my tears could fill the sky.
Your Love and Peace now fills my soul,
My agony of Sin, you hung on that poll.
The Father said, in words, eternally true,
'It pleasures me, my son to Pay, for you.'
Can it be, you love me this much;
How could I be worthy of such?
You hear my words, crying in my mind,
Smiling, you say, 'There's no Sin to find.'
Your precious blood had washed me clean,
My heart be pure, and white; not mean.
Again, the tears do want to swim,
Your tender eyes say 'No tears in Him.'
I knew the answer, in your loving eyes,
I was reborn, heart owns the skies.
I can fly, and never die, your eternal son,
A single drop of blood, purified this sinful one.
So much now Lord, I need to know,
But have eternity, for perfection to grow.
From your lips you wail, 'It is complete.'
I watch you die while at your feet.
A slave to you, heart cleaned, remade,
Eternity to honor the price You paid.
No more, my God, no more, my Lord,
Can I be sad, or ever bored.
Until my soul does graduate,
You call on me, what ere my fate,
I belong to only you, my God, my Lord,
Singing praise to you, my song my sword.
Each day of my mortality,
I'll take up cross for world to see.
I'll sing: Baruch Ha'bah B'Shem Yahweh,
(Blessed be Ye who comes in the name of Yahweh).
AMEN
