Another Breath
By Arley Steinhour 080914
It will surely take a while,
To quell this urge in me,
To sleep through the time that I'll,
Awaken for another final History.
Hospital Staff is overworked,
To a point I feel they might resign,
Admin and new laws have them yanked and jerked,
There's little time they can call 'mine.'
Why do they keep the vigil watch,
Why do they say a straight line course,
Perhaps their calling no-one can tough,
So patients won't leave in a hearse.
Ah-Ha, the staff 'is' in rebellion,
Against that thing called death,
So we can have a celebration,
Of us drawing another mortal breath.
AMEN
