Week Three Friday Night Lights Football Heroes
*Kip Brigham-Wahoo - The 5-10, 175 pound junior continues to pull off remarkable feats on the gridiron week after week and this puppy may top them all. In Wahoo’s 66-24 win over Aurora, Brigham rushed for 342 yards and 7 touchdowns on just 13 carries (26.31/carry). He also caught one pass which resulted in a 32 yard TD. Brighams 8 touchdowns in a single game is a new Class C-1 record.
NOW, here’s the crazy statline. Aurora actually led this game 14-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. Wahoo then short circuited the Aurora scoreboard by scoring FORTY FIVE points in the 2nd quarter. The 45 big ones included 6 touchdowns and a safety (with various PATs included)
Brigham had a hand in ALL SIX touchdowns, scoring on runs covering 14, 74, 15, 42 and 55 yards. He also caught a 26 yard scoring pass from QB Jace Kaminski….all in a span of roughly 9 minutes during that 2nd stanza. Remarkable!
*Millard South DEFENSE, Teagan Urban, Jett Thomalla - Millard South - A good Kearney Bearcat team will have nightmares long after their 52-3 loss to mighty Millard South. The swarming Patriots defense held Kearney to 26 total yards, which included 16.5 tackles for losses in the blowout win. 5-11, 190 pound junior Teagan Urban was a one man wrecking crew, making 14 tackles (12 solos), 5 of which were for losses.
On the offensive side, Jett Thomalla had his normal day at the office, completing 18 of 24 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers. Leading the receiving corps was Aamir Hill who grabbed 7 receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown. He also had an interception on defense.
Can anybody in Class A beat this Millard South Juggernaut this season.
*Quinn Bailey-Chadron - The King of Western Nebraska running backs broke loose for 263 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns in the Cardinals 51 to 6 victory over Gering. Bailey also caught 2 passes for 90 yards and an additional pair of scores in the rout. The sensational Chadron senior now has 795 yards rushing for the season and 4,285 for his career, just 715 yards shy of the coveted 5000 yard career mark.
*Conor Booth-Wahoo Neumann - The University of Nebraska commit rushed for 269 yards on 17 totes with four touchdowns in the Cavaliers 40-0 victory over Yutan.
*Parker Zikmund, Wyatt Dent, Corbin Keyes, Bison Defense-Central City - In the Bisons 41-0 win over Minden, quarterback Zikmund completed 20 of 30 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Wyatt Dent had eight receptions for 139 yards with two touchdowns while junior Corbin Keyes rushed 21 times for 201 yards and an additional 3 touchdowns.
That stingy Central City “D” also held the Whippets to 162 yards of offense in the win.
*Braylon Anderson, Jaxson Jorgensen, Isak Maxwell, Corbin Guill, Oakland-Craig - Another big night for these gentlemen in the Knights 49-0 victory over North Bend Central. QB Braylon Anderson was once again deadly through the air, completing 13 of 18 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns. Corbin Guill had 3 catches for 122 yards with a pair of TDs while Maxwell hauled in 7 receptions with a TD.
Jaxson Jorgensen kept the ground game going with 168 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown.
*Derek Tonjes, Cal Kissinger-Ashland-Greenwood - Deadeye junior QB hit 19 of 26 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns in AG’s 33-14 conquest of Columbus Scotus. Classmate Cal Kissinger latched on to seven Tonjes aerials, good for 106 yards and one touchdown.
*Will Gutz, Morgan Schuman-Bennington - 5-11,180 pound sophomore Will Gutz ran for 134 yards on 11 carries which included a 71 yard touchdown dash in Bennington's 42-7 victory over Hastings. Gutz, also a big time receiving threat out of the Badger backfield, also caught 5 passes for 57 yards in the win.
Senior Morgan Schumann was a shining star on defense and special teams in the game. Schuman made 7 tackles on defense, brought back a Pick-Six 49 yards for a touchdown, recovered a fumble for another TD and was 6 for 6 on PAT kicks.
*Beau Rohrich-Wood River - Eagles senior had another big night In Wood River’s 47-15 victory over Fairbury. Rohrich rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and even had a 66 yard scoring run called back in the contest.
The great Larry Vlasin has to be smiling down on Beau from the heavens above about right now.
*Caden Joneson, Alonzo Torres-North Platte - Senior quarterback Caden Joneson ripped off 182 yards rushing on 21 carries and a TD in the Platters 34-31 victory over North Platte. RB Torres ran 26 times for 127 yards and 3 TDs to lead the scoring parade. Joneson also made 10 tackles on defense.
*Caejon Suttles-GI Northwest - Not a bad outing for a first time starter at quarterback. In the Vikings 52-14 win over Lexington, the 5-8, 185 pound junior was on target, completing 16 of 21 passes for 204 yards and 4 TDs. He wasn’t finished yet though. Suttles added 102 yards rushing to his total for the night which included another score.
*Cole Signor-Norfolk - Panthers junior QB had a nice outing in that 34-31 loss to North Platte. Cole completed 18 of 30 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns and also ran 9 times for 45 yards and another score. The Norfolk junior already has 874 yards passing with 9 TDs for the 2-1 Panthers.
*Grayson Sack. Graham Stava, Jack Alberts-GICC - Crusaders junior QB Grayson Sack hit 12 of 18 passes for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed for an additional 96 big ones on just 12 totes with another TD in GICCs 37-8 win at Hershey. WR Graham Stava had 3 catches for 116 yards with an electrifying 80 yard scoring jaunt. Stava also had an interception on defense.
Defensive leader Jack Alberts made 11 tackles, 10 of which were solo crunches.
*Ikaiah Edgren-Wood River - Tough senior made 9 tackles, 8 of which were solos, had 2 tackles for losses, caused a fumble, recovered a fumble, had a 22 yard Pick-6, booted a pair of PATs and nailed a 44 yard field goal in the Eagles 47-15 win over Fairbury. That's quite a night , Ikkaiah.
8-Man/6-Man
*Barrett Wilke, Becker Pohlman, Garrett Hansen-Stanton - Mustang quarterback Barrett Wilkie rushed 32 times for 284 yards, scoring all 5 touchdowns in Stanton’s 40-28 win over Central Valley in the big 8-Man Football Battle of the Number Ones in Wolbach last Friday.
Garrett Hansen and Becker Pohlman led the defensive charge for Stanton. #54 Hansen was especially disruptive on defense making 13 tackles. Pohlman followed with 11 stops.
*Kyle Cox-Sandhills-Thedford - All-State QB came up big once again in the Knights 56-8 win over Burwell. Cox rushed 7 times for 152 yards and three touchdowns, was 6 for 8 passing for 177 yards and two more scores, made 13 tackles on defense, returned a fumble 28 for a score and took a kickoff 73 yards to the house for undefeated Sandhills-Thedford.
*Ethan Shaw, Kamerin Sealey -Sandy Creek - All-State QB Ethan Shaw racked up 167 passing (2 TDs) and 141 rushing (3 TDs) In Sandy Creek's 71-14 victory over Alma. Freshman Cameron Seeley had another big outing, rushing six times for 112 yards and two touchdowns, had a 6 Yard pass reception for another score, and made 7 tackles on defense.
*Carson McDonald-McCool Junction - Jet propelled junior quarterback took off for 378 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries in the Mustangs 64-46 win over Freeman. McDonald also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown, returned a kickoff for another score, and caught a 7 yard scoring pass in the game
*Grady Rasmussen-Ravenna - Rasmussen, who is having a brilliant senior season for Ravenna, ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries in their 54-6 win over Hi-Line. The senior also caught 2 passes for 52 yards and another TD for the 3-0 Bluejays.
*Hunter Luther-Howells-Dodge - All-State junior Back ran 15 times for 252 yards and 4 TDs in the 64-26 win over Lyons Decatur NE.
*Sam Souerdyke-Thayer Central - Two time 1000 yard rusher had a big night in a heartbreaking 40-34 loss Nebraska City Lourdes. The senior All-State running back ran for 234 yards on 34 carries with 4 TDs. Sam also made 14 tackles on defense with nine solo stops included.
*Jace Schukar-Loomis - 5-10, 160-pound sophomore had a brilliant outing in the Wolves 54-24 victory over Anselmo Merna.
Schukar raced for 160 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries, caught 3 passes for 81 yards and an additional 2 touchdowns, made six tackles on defense and picked off an A-M pass to complete his big evening. This kid is a DUDE man!!
*Maddox Jones-SEM - 190 pound senior rambled for 195 yards and SIX TDs on 19 totes in the Mustangs 52-24 victory over Shelton.
*Brock Jeannoutot-Bloomfield - Junior running back ran for 209 yards on 16 carries and touchdown runs covering 4, 2 and 66 yards In the Bees 64-6 win over Wakefield. Jeannouot, who follows a long line of 1,000 yard rushing Bloomfield running backs, also made nine stops on defense, two of which were for losses.
*Paydon Rinkol-Twin River - 195 pound bruiser rushed for 207 yards on 24 carries and five touchdowns in Twin Rivers 56-30 win over Henderson Heartland. Rinkol Also caught 2 passes for 42 yards, made 17 tackles with 11 solos, and punted twice for an average of 47.5 yards each.
*Larry Diessner, Trevor Carraher-Riverside - Pass/Catch duo was clicking in Riverside’s 42-16 win over a strong High Plains team. Diessner, stepping in at QB for this game, was a sizzling 8 of 10 passing for 182 big ones and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for 41 yards and a one yard TD plunge. Carraher reeled in 6 of Diessner’s 8 completions, good for 154 yards and a pair of scoring receptions covering 27 and 64 yards.
*Will Frey, Jackson Williams-Lawrence-Nelson - Sophomores were big in the Raiders 38-14 victory over Wilcox Hildreth. QB Will Frey was big in this game, completing 5 of 10 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, rushing 18 times for 109 yards and three additional touchdowns, plus making 10 tackles on defense. Williams chipped in 102 yards on 17 totes with a TD on offense and made 7 stops on defense.
