Week Two Friday Night Lights Football Heroes - 8-Man/6-Man
*Kyle Cox-Sandhills-Thedford - Amazing Dual-Threat quarterback rushed 28 times for 301 yards and 4 TDs, completed 8 of 15 passes for 199 yards and FOUR more TDs for 500 Total Yards and made 19 tackles with 12 solos in the Knights 56-54 win over Ainsworth.
*Chris Fernandez, Morgan Kinney-Ainsworth - In that 56-54 loss to Sandhills-Thedford; Fernandez, the junior QB, connected on 17 of 28 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns and added 53 rushing yards and a TD on 15 carries. Morgan Kinney was a perfect 2 for 2 passing with 2 touchdowns and led the ground attack with 90 yards on 27 totes with three TDs.
*Ethan Shaw, Connor Rempe, Alston Clark, Wes Bilthoft, Kamerin Sealey -Sandy Creek - All-State QB was 12 of 18 through the air for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns, rushed 22 times for 93 yards with a TD. Connor Rempe had 5 pass receptions for 93 yards and a 63 yard TD plus 14 tackles. Alston Clark also had 14 tackles, Wes Bilthoft added 13 stops and a touchdown catch on offense while freshman Kamering Sealey had 3 catches for 47 yards and a TD, 13 tackles and an interception.
*Grady Kelly, Zaden Wolf, Taesian Soto, Caden Straka, William Pokorny-In Central Valley’s 54-20 win over Atkinson West Holt; 2000 yard man Grady Kelly-255 yards on 17 carries/4 TDs, 13 tackles/3 TFL, Zaden Wolf-12 carries/134 yards/2 TDs, 5-8 passing for 86 yards/1 TD, 7 tackles, Taesian Soto-7 pancakes, 16 tackles, Caden Straka (Soph)-13 tackles, 1 sack, William Pokorny (Freshman)-12 tackles.
*Barrett Wilke, Becker Pohlman-Stanton - Just hit the replay button for Stanton and these dudes. In the Mustangs 56-6 win over Wausa-Osmond, QB Wilke bolted for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 11 carries. Pohlman added 101 yards on the ground with 4 TDs on 15 tries.
On defense Pohlman made 9 tackles.
*Carson McDonald-McCool Junction - Rushed 15 times for 218 yards and 5 TDs and was 10-13 passing for another 195 yards and 3 TDs in McCool’s 68-26 win over Twin River.
*Cole Roesner-Hartington-Newcastle - 203 yards rushing on 9 carries/5 touchdowns in a 74-6 win over Wakefield. That follows a 181 yard, 3 touchdown performance on 9 carries against Ainsworth on opening night.
*Gage Friesen-High Plains Community - 8 carries, 181 yards, 4 TDs in the Storms 51-8 win over Palmer.
*Michael Koenig-Summerland - Brilliant quarterback buoyed a 32-28 mild upset win over highly rated Crofton. Koenig completed 18 of 27 passes for 238 yards and 4 TDs, ran 7 times for 58 yards with an additional score and made 15 stops on defense.
*Cole Spahr-Tri-County - I saw the young man play at Wood River one Friday afternoon last September when Tri-County was playing 11-Man football. Spahr was playing WR and had a couple of catches and 1 rush for 4 yards. He looked like he had some pretty fair speed.
Turn the page to 2024, Tri-County is back down to 8-Man and Cole Spahr is a Quarterback and LEADING D-1 in RUSHING with 486 yards in TWO games.
In the opener, Spahr ran 23 times for 183 yards and 2 TDs. He also was 3-6 passing with a touchdown in the 34-22 win over Johnson County Central.
Last Friday the 170 pound senior exploded for 303 yards rushing on 32 totes with a pair of TDs. He also threw a TD pass in the 32-27 win over Freeman.
Keep an eye on Mr. Cole Spahr and Tri-County, a really proud football program.
*Jack Molt-Riverside- Four third quarter touchdowns by the Riverside Jet broke open a close 8-0 Chargers halftime lead over Twin Loup. Molt’s scoring runs of 4, 29, 30 and 47 yards led to an eventual 42-8 win. Molt, who rushed 19 times for 203 yards in the victory, also recorded a 44 yard Pick-6 in the game.
*Cauy Meyer, Gavin Norris-Loomis - Junior Meyer recorded 22 tackles (13 solos), Norris followed with 19 (10 solos) in the Wolves 46-22 win over Axtell.
*Kaden Kleen, Hutchinson Vacek-Wilcox-Hildreth - Junior QB Kleen was 14-25 passing for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns while Kaden’s classmate Vacek was grabbing 5 of those aerials for 123 yards and 3 TDs in Wil-Hill’s 60-28 win over Deshler.
*Houston Billeter-Southwest (Bartley) - Junior quarterback was 6 of 11 passing for 224 yards, with 5 of the 6 completions going for touchdowns in the Roughriders 56-14 conquest of Harvard. Just a week ago, Billeter blitzed GI Heartland Lutheran with 8-12 passing for 285 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 71-34 victory.
*Jack Hunter-Sioux County - 5-6, 160 pound senior rushed 23 times for 199 yards and 4 TDs, caught a 28 yard scoring pass and made 15 tackles (4 for losses) in Sioux County’s 46-31 win over Leyton.
