Nebraska High School Class B Running Backs To Watch in 2024
A trio of thousand yard runners return in Class B in hard running Brock Templar of Blair, Elkhorn North’s smooth moving Jett Tinglehoff and Scottsbluff quarterback Nate Kelly, who is one of the top all-around athletes in Class B.
Also, about right now I’m thinking “how crazy can you be?” for not listing a RB from the mighty Bennington Badgers.
The way their offense is constructed, somebody is going to be christened as the primary mail carrier so that vaunted offensive line can create another gazillion yard rusher.
I have no idea who that may be, but prep football Guru NENextt (one of the brightest prep football minds in Nebraska) has an idea could be a young sophomore.
One of my absolute favorite RBs in this class is Mason Gunn of Gretna East. This lad could match his 735 rushing yards from 2023 and tack on another thousand big ones without too much of a problem.
Another player that I’m really high on is Seward junior quarterback Treston Hass. The 6-3, 190 pound sophomore piled up 2,079 total yards for the Bluejays, including 1,516 yards passing with 9 TDs. He also has a great surrounding cast to work with and a very strong head coach in Jamie Opfer.
I felt the urge to include McCook junior RB Tristan Campbell on this list despite the fact the Bison losing some talent via graduation and also moving back up to their familiar Class B role after a pair of seasons in C-1.
Campbell is a tough son-of-a-gun despite his weight (See 49 solo tackles in 2023 including 9 solos vs. Chadron in the season finale).
