**The Championship Game** - Junior running back sensation Cory Eikmeier broke loose for a 32 yard touchdown run with 3:50 left in the game, lifting Dodge to a 30-25 victory over a fine Orchard team. The Pirates, who won their second straight Class D-1 State Championship, had to rely on it's underrated defense to hold off a late drive by the Orioles.
The spectacular Eikmeier ended the game with 227 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Dodge fullback Jeff Uhir backed up Eikmeier with 128 yards on 17 totes with a touchdown reception. The Orchard offense was led by All-Stater Matt Ickes with 163 yards on 27 carries and a pair of scores.

**The Championship Game** - The St. Francis defense held Butte to a minus 7 yards rushing, as the Flyers zoomed to a Class D-2 title with a convincing 31-6 win over Butte. The Wildcats, who averaged 235 ground yards a game coming in, were stuffed while the Kosch brothers were sparkling on offense for the visiting St. Francis Flyers.
Duane Kosch was the outstanding player for St. Francis on both sides of the ball, zipping for 151 yards rushing on offense and racking up 11 stops defensively.
It was a remarkable turnaround for the Flyers, who finished 3-6 just a season ago.
