BOB JENSEN – HUSKERLAND PREP REPORT

An Arnold, Nebraska native- Huskerland Bob is one of the most respected members of the Nebraska High School Sports Media. Every year since 1990 the publisher of Huskerland Prep Report has had enthusiastic high school football fans seeking out his weekly newspaper and daily website coverage. Over the years, he has spotlighted small town football from across the state with over 1,200 feature articles on Eight Man Football. Bob’s efforts to promote our game from his platform have been paramount to its’ continued growth and success. His 30 year chronicle of everyone’s favorite teams, coaches, and athletes is what has made his contribution to our sport so significant---but Bob considers his 33 year marriage to his wife Penni and being Matt and Jessie’s father as his greatest accomplishments. In 2015, Bob was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame, and for his efforts to promote Nebraska Eight Man Football, The NEMFCA is honored to welcome him into our Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

Every time I see Bob Jensen I’m either smiling, laughing or both. That’s the effect the man has on most of us. The clown prince of high school sports. The one-liner king supreme. I’ve played behind some comedians over the years who weren’t nearly as funny as Bob Jensen.

But that trait is just a bonus folks get when they become friends with Mr. Jensen and Bob generally considers everyone he meets a friend.

Huskerland Bob’s real gig is covering high school sports and running a weekly newspaper, but the contributions he’s made to the sport of high school football is unmeasurable.

Countless miles logged putting together his Huskerland Prep Report High School Football Preview, which by the way, is the only one of its kind in the country, and another gazillion miles each week covering prep football games from Class A to Six-Man from one end of the state to the other. And Bob Jensen not only writes about high school football (1,200 feature stories and counting), the man knows the game inside and out and has for years.

To be brutally honest about all this, most real high school football fans would be totally lost without Bob Jensen’s pre-season preview. I know I certainly would.

And high school football weekly stats? Huskerland Prep Report was around long before anyone else on the national scene decided to give it a go and continues to be thee source in Nebraska.

Finally, perhaps the most impressive thing about Mr. Jensen is the fact this entire Huskerland Prep Report baby is basically handled by Bob himself. Tough workload, but the man gets it done week, after week, after week and turns out a top notch product with a writing expertise that makes Bob Jensen my all time favorite journalist……..and comedian.

Mr. Bob Jensen, welcome to the NEMFCA Hall of Fame. Not the first Hall you have been inducted into, and certainly not the last, but the bottom line is we appreciate everything you have done to promote 8-Man Football in Nebraska, and are all tickled to death to have you in our Hall of Fame!
