Nebraska High School Career Rushing Leaders (5,000 Yards minimum)
The 2018 Nebraska prep football season proved to be an exciting year for movement on this prestigious list. Four running backs cracked the Top 10, which has never occurred before.
Dylan Kautz of Norfolk Catholic became 11-Man football’s leading career rusher, surpassing Omaha North’s Calvin Strong by 104 yards.
6-Man star Trent Reed of Hay Springs became the most prolific runner in that games history with his 6,821 career yards.
8-Man football sensation Lane Edis of Mullen moved to 5th place all-time and JJ Jenkins, a four time 1000 yard rusher from Wilcox-Hildreth, jumped into 9th place with his 2,752 yards in 2018.
Lane Edis and his Dad, Wade, are the only father/son duo in the history of Nebraska prep football to each rush for over 5,000 yards in a career. Wade crammed all of his 5,169 yards into three seasons at Mullen. He played 11-Man freshman football at North Platte.

*There are 6 running backs in history who are 4-Time 1000 Yard Rushers:
Brandon Holtorf - Prague
Mike Brower - Geneva (1 season), Fillmore Central (3 years)
Jacob Morrill - Creighton
Moses Bryant - Elkhorn South
Dylan Kautz - Norfolk Catholic
AJ Jenkins - Wilcox-Hildreth
*There are 7 Freshman in history that have surpassed the 1000 yard rushing plateau. The above 6 plus:
Casey Cozad of Callaway did it in 1995. He also hit the 1000 yard mark in 1997 and 1998, but a 1996 injury prevented him for being a 4-time 1000 yard man.
Quade Myers, a Dundy County/Stratton freshman QB, rushed for 1,428 yards this past season, making him the 8th in history to pull off the feat.
