1000 Yard Guy's 2016 All-State Basketball Teams

This will be the 7th year for my All-State Basketball teams, and this year there will be a little different twist in the selection process.

I decided to enlist the talents of 19 year GICC assistant coach Rob Micek. Coach Micek, who just happens to be my son, watches endless hours of film and does extensive live scouting during the regular season in addition to his coaching duties.

Coach Micek handled the Super-State selections, as well as Classes A, B, C-1 and C-2 All-State teams. Yours truly took care of Classes D-1 and D-2. Rob and I collaborated for the Super State picks.

By the way, the junior class talent throughout the entire state was absolutely incredible, so we can certainly look ahead to the 2016/2017 prep hoops season with high anticipation.

*In addition, we have resurrected a group of awards that appeared in my very first All-State blog. I will award them in each class where applicable.

A player does not have to be included on the All-State teams to qualify for one of these Awards.

.......and they are:

*The "Scoring Machine Award" for leading his class in total points scored.

*The "Long Distance Award" for beyond the arc, three point specialists.

*The "I Make You Look Good Award" for assists

*The "Thief in the Night Award" for steals.

*The"Sultan of Swat Award" for blocked shots.

*The "Chairman of the Board Award" for rebounding".

*The "Doubling It Up Award" for most Double-Doubles in a season.
