Plenty of 1000 Yard Rushers return for 2013 football season

There will be 34 thousand yard runners back to ramble on the high school gridiron this fall in Nebraska incluing two from C-2 powerhouse Sutton. 9 backs who reached the 1000 yard pinnacle as sophomores will be on tap, along with 25 seniors.

Creighton's Jacob Morrill is attempting to accomplish a very rare feat as a running back. The

hard running senior-to-be is going for his 4th 1000 yard rushing season this fall. Only two other backs in Nebraska history have accomplished this nearly impossible task. Mike Brower did it for Geneva/Fillmore Central during a career that spanned 2000/2003. Brandon Holtorf of Prague also turned the trick in a career from 1998/2001. Morrill is also only 1,066 yards shy of 5000 yards for a career, also an exclusive club.

In the following days we will be doing capsules on each of the 33 returnees. Along with that, we will take a look at returning quarterbacks and receivers that should be making the headlines in 2013.

Fasten your seat belts football fans, the season is closer than you think. I am starting to feel the butterflies already.
