Big Brother 19 Week 9 Recap and Updates
Mark was the last of the non power players to be evicted from the house. I had predicted that he would be ousted with a 6-0 vote. However, just hours before the show (after the cameras had gone off for the live show) Jason, Paul, and Alex decided that at least one person should vote to evict Matt. The reason behind this was to cast doubt on Kevin as the one person that voted Mark out. It was decided that Jason would be that vote. But once it was time for the vote Alex (whether it was purposeful or by accident - she claimed in her diary room interview that she forgot that only one person was supposed to make that vote - is till up for debate) also voted to evict Matt.
This did cause the desired confusion as the other house guests automatically decided that Kevin had voted to evict Matt (including Matt).
The HOH Comp was an endurance comp where the house guests were in hot dog buns on ledges. Kevin and Matt were the first tow down, followed by Josh. This left Raven, Paul, Jason, and Alex. For some unknown reason Raven started trying to make deals. Typically in endurance comps the final two left start making deals, not when there are still four. No one went for Raven's deals, though. Paul was next down (purposely) and Raven almost right after him. It was left to Jason and Alex who then started yelling at each other who was going to win. Matt apparently thought they were doing this to rub in Raven's face and began yelling at them about how ridiculous they were being.
Eventually Alex agreed to drop and Jason became HOH for the second time this season (and 2nd in the last 3). He put up Matt and Raven (with a back up plan to back door Kevin if need be). Jason was also able to win POV for the 3rd time. Alex, Paul, Christmas, and Josh wanted Jason to pull Raven off the block and put up Kevin, not necessarily to vote Kevin out, but just to put some fear into him.
In the end Jason decided not to use the POV and left the block the same.
Matt, assuming that he is the one being voted out, refused to fulfill his Have-not duties and will be receiving a penalty vote on tonight's show.
Recap
Eviction - Mark by a vote of 4-2
HOH - Jason (2nd win, 2nd in 3 weeks)
Noms - Matt (4th time on the block, 3rd nom), Raven (2nd nom)
POV - Jason (3rd POV win)
Rankings
8. Matt
Matt was flying high just a matter of weeks ago. For the entirety of the show he has done whatever the power group has wanted him to do. Unfortunately for him this also put a target on his back. His fate was sealed this week when he decided to attack Jason and Alex at the end of the HOH comp. Yes, it was a little silly that Jason and Alex were arguing over who would go off the wall first, but it was not directed at Raven.
7. Raven
Raven has been skating on thin ice for about a month now. Fortunately for her there has always been a bigger target. Even next week it appears that the main target is going to be Kevin and not her. This all can change in a heart beat and is the main reason I have her here and not Kevin.
6. Kevin
Kevin has not done anything specific to make him a target. His problem is that he wants to be liked on all sides of the house. In a game where sides are picked and suspicion is thrown at the other side the person (or people) that get along with both sides are eventually targeted for eviction. A lot of this also stems from an off hand joke he made roughly a month ago when he said that for all everyone knew he had no family and production told him to lie and make up a family. Now everyone is convinced that he has no family and he has been conning them the entire game.
5. Josh
Unless something major happens in the next two weeks, the final 5 are set. Josh is the low man on the totem pole for the moment. He has not really been competitive but he is the groups attack dog. Unless he starts winning he will be the first of the top 5 to go to jury.
4. Christmas
Christmas finally got her 1st HOH of the season last week, though Paul did throw it to her. If she makes it to the final 2 she could get some sympathy votes and pull out a surprising win, especially for someone who was injured the first week. As long as Jason and Alex continue to compete as they do she could be on the chopping block within the next two weeks.
3. Jason
Jason, Paul, and Alex are my final three. They are the power players in the house and the best competitors. The only reason I do not see Jason getting to the final is when Paul needs to turn it on he is almost unbeatable in comps. If Jason makes it to the final two against Paul, however, he is likely to win over Paul.
2. Alex
Alex is the best of this year's crop. If she makes it the final two she wins, simple as that.
1. Paul
Paul is the lone veteran in the house. He came in with a target on his back. Despite this he has made it this far without once being put on the block. This is the one reason he has remained at the top of the rankings.
Prediction
Matt is going to be evicted tonight most likely in a 5-0 vote. Even though the house is strong against Raven, they have bigger plans for her.

Eviction
Matt was evicted by a vote of 6-0 (5 votes from house guests, 1 from a penalty vote for not doing Have-not duties).
HOH
Christmas picked up her 2nd overall (and 2nd in the last 3) HOH last night. The HOHs for the last few weeks have been Jason, Christmas, Jason, Christmas. Because of a rain delay the HOH Comp was not on the show or on the live feeds. It does sound like the plan was to throw the HOH to Christmas if she did compete and that plan came to fruition.
I believe her targets for this week are Jason and Alex.
Nominations
Alex (3rd nomination) and Jason (4th time on the block, 3rd nomination) are on the block. I had predicted that Christmas would target them, but I honestly thought she would try a back door. Paul wants Christmas to back door Kevin if Jalex wins the POV, but Christmas has been against that. I suspect right now that if one of the noms comes off the block Raven will go up as a pawn.
POV
Paul won his 3rd POV of the summer. By the sounds of it, the POV was thrown to him again. It sounds like his closest allies (Christmas and Josh) are starting to wake up to the fact that he is playing the game for himself and not for the team. While the did throw the POV to him, they are being resistant to his plan to not use POV have a tied vote and Christmas make the deciding vote. Josh and Christmas both agree that they do not want to get their hands bloody to solely help Paul's game. We shall see how the week plays out.
Renom
Paul took Alex off the block and Christmas nominated Kevin. Right now the plan is still to evict Jason, however, Keven did not handle being put on the block very well and that can work against him by the time Thursday rolls around. This is Kevin's first nomination.
