Big Brother 19 Week 8 Recap and Updates
As I was in Nebraska from Thursday to Tuesday this will not be the normal recap and updates. Thursday's show was a double eviction show. Cody was eliminated first 7-0 and in true narcissist Cody way he walked on a table to avoid talking to anyone and walked out of the show. He also became the first juror. Jason won the first HOH of the night for his first win and put up Mark and Elena for eviction. Mark won the POV and took himself off the block and Jason put Matt on the block. Elena was eliminated 6-1 and she became the second juror of the season.
Christmas won her first HOH of the season and put up Jason and Matt as pawns. Jason won the POV and removed himself from the block. Christmas put up Mark (as planned). There is also a new temptation currently going on where players take an apple from the LED tree in the house and can be rewarded or punished. Mark was the first to take an apple and it allowed him to keep someone safe for the week. He gave it to Paul. It is a spin off of the Adam and Eve story.

Rankings
9. Mark
Mark (along with Elena) made his mistake when Cody came back into the house. The rest of the house guests wanted Cody back out as soon as possible and then Jessica after him (as it turned out the order was reversed). For some reason Mark decided to realign with Cody. Elena's downfall was going with Mark. She had been aligned with two of the top people in the house (Paul and Christmas) and threw her game away for the showmance. Mark's crime was blatant flip-flopping. Whoever had power that week was who he aligned with. Fortunately for him there had always been larger targets until this week. He had spurts of great competing, but had two chances to keep himself safe this week and failed both times.
8. Raven
The entire house (save Matt) has tired of her constant story topping and somehow having every sickness, ailment, and injury known to man (depending on the story). Unless she wins HOH tonight (which from her previous play is not likely) she should be the top target for the next eviction.
7. Kevin
Kevin's only sin this season is trying to make a deal with Cody on behalf of the house without talking to anyone about it first. He is the dad of the house and everyone loves him. But because some of his moves inside the house he has lost the trust of Paul, Christmas, and Alex. I always considered him to be final two material for someone else's win, but unless something major happens he should be one of the next three eliminated.
6. Matt
Right now the house is actively not only trying to get split the showmances but get rid of everyone from the showmances. Jody was first followed by Marlena (which will be complete tonight). The next is Maven. The only reason I see Matt lasting longer than Kevin is because he will do whatever the house wants him to do, whether he agrees with it or not. This has gained him favor and will keep him around for a few more weeks.
5. Josh
Josh went from being one of the first house guests that the house agreed had to leave to officially being part of the final five (potentially final three). Paul, Christmas, and Alex used him at their leisure to mess with Mark, Cody, and Jessica for the last month. He has grown as a person throughout this game and emotional and personality wise has completely changed from the person he was when he entered the game.
4. Jason
His biggest ally in the house is Alex and that is the sole reason he has stayed around. Due to Alex's final two deal with Paul, Paul has not targeted him. Jason at times has been a competition beast. However, at times his conspiracy riddled brain gets in the way and leads to some weird theories. For instance when Christmas essentially had a brain fart and chose Raven to play in the Veto this week, Jason assumed that there was a nefarious plan against him. There was not.
3. Christmas
I am not convinced at this point that Christmas is going to make the final three, it could easily be Jason or Josh replacing her. You have to hand it to her, she broke her foot on the very first week of the show and has just kept going. The house guests have always had larger targets and since she cannot always compete in comps she has mostly been overlooked. She does not seem to like Alex very much and that could pose an issue towards the end of the season. For now all is well.
2. Alex
Alex is an absolute beast in this game on all fronts. If not for Paul she would be the favorite to win this season. Even though she has a final two deal with Paul if it came down to a final three of Paul, Alex, and Jason/Josh it is almost guaranteed that if he had the choice Paul would take one of the guys. He cannot win against Alex in the final two and I think he understands that, or at least he should. If Alex makes it to the final two she should win this season. Her only true enemy was Jessica and that was a hold over from week 1 when Cody wanted to work with Alex and Jessica felt threatened.
1. Paul
Simply put, Paul should have never made it this far. He was the sole veteran on the show. In years past there were usually around four veterans and they would group together to ensure safety. Paul has not had that though he was rewarded safety for the first four evictions which helped. Cody and Jessica putting such huge targets on themselves also helped. If he makes it to the final two he is the odds on favorite to win the show as the only one I see beating him is Alex. Having said that there is an argument that no matter who he makes it to the final two with could beat him, if the jury decides to reward one of their own over a veteran.
Prediction
Mark will be evicted tonight in a 6-0 vote. He has been campaigning but he is on an island of his own making. He will be the third juror on the show tonight.

Eviction
Mark was evicted as expected. What was not expected was that Alex and Jason voted to evict Matt. So Mark was evicted by a vote of 4-2.
The HOH is an endurance comp.
The first one down was Kevin
Next was Matt (Matt has a propensity to go down early in endurance comps).
Next was Josh (Josh also has the unique inability to last long in endurance comps).
With four competitors still left Raven started making deals so she could get a letter from her mom. No one was receptive. Typically the deals wait until the last two, not the final four.
Next was Paul (it looked like he slipped).
Next was Raven (it appears she was only making deals because she was about to drop).
Next was Alex after a lengthy dealing process that ended with no deals.
HOH
Jason wins his second HOH (2 out of the last 3)
NOMINATIONS
Matt (4th time on the block and third nomination) and Raven (2nd nomination) have been nominated by Jason. As it stands right now Matt is the primary target (despite doing everything he has been asked to do this season), with Kevin a possible back door.
POV Winner
Jason won his 3rd POV of the season (and 2nd in a row). As of now it looks like the block will stay the same with Matt being the target.
POV Ceremony
Jason did not use the POV, leaving the block the same. For the moment the target is still squarely on Matt's back.
