Big Brother 19 Week 4 Recap and Updates
So #narcissistCody is back in the game. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. However, I am jumping the game a bit. I really did not know how this eviction would go as Paul (who was running the game despite Alex being HOH) could not seem to decide who he wanted out more. Had he known about the battle back that was coming he probably would have gone with Alex. However, the house did not know. Dominique was evicted to no shock but what was a shock was that she was evicted by a unanimous decision. 10-0. Jessica did not use her ability to stop the nomination so more than likely she knew the way the vote was going before the live show.
Once Dominique left the house she found out about her chance to battle back into the house against Cody, Cameron, and Jillian. I truly expected Cody to win the battle back, but I was hoping that Cameron could somehow pull it off. He was evicted in a swap out that brought Paul back into the game.
Battle Back
The battle back competition was done in two parts. The first one involved the evictees trying to get a ball into a hole at the end of the maze table that had to be moved for the ball to go anywhere. There were pitfalls throughout the table that if a ball went through the evictee would have to start over. Cody easily finished first, followed by Cameron. They both moved onto the second part while Jillian and Dominique were fully evicted for the season.
The second part involved the evictees launching balls at panels in an effort to knock them out. Cameron had taken a huge 7-3 lead, but then Cody figured out exactly how to aim and shoot perfectly and reached 10 panels first. Cameron was eliminated. At this point the house guests found out that there was a battle back going on and they had a chance to prevent the evictee from coming back into the house. The house guests chose Paul by a vote of 10-0 to be the house champion to go up against Cody. Cody got to choose between a new maze table or a rotating panel blaster. He chose the new maze table and beat Paul to rejoin the house.
HOH Competition and Nominations
The HOH Comp involved holding a pole against a red disk. Kevin and Mark were the first two out in less than a minute. Kevin was not much of a surprise to go out that fast but this was consecutive HOH Comps that Mark was one of the first to be eliminated from competition. It came down to Christmas and Jessica with Jessica outlasting Christmas to become the new HOH.
What was interesting about the Comp was that each time someone was eliminated from the game they had to choose a competitor to receive a punishment. Almost all of them chose Cody who had to endure trash, a yelling man, and a tar like substance. When Josh was eliminated (one of the last ones), Cody true to his narcissistic self immediately began bullying Josh. Josh, to his credit, was not having any of it and constantly berated Jody almost to the end of the comp.
Most thought that with Jessica in power she would immediately go after Paul for kicking Cody out of the house. So when she named the two nominees it was a bit of a shock that Paul was not one of the nominees. In fact, Paul was not one of Jessica's targets at all. Her soul target was Josh. She named Josh and Ramses to the block with Ramses going up to ensure the votes.
What Jessica was unaware of was that Paul was being convincing everyone to vote Ramses out instead of Josh. He even convinced Josh to act moody all week, as if he knew he was on his way out of the house.
POV Competition and Ceremony
The POV Comp pitted Jessica against Cody, Josh, Ramses, Jason, and Christmas. In this competition they were shown a list of ingredients then told to pour a certain ingredient in a vat. The clue told them which ingredient to choose. If the player was wrong they were blasted with colored paint. Christmas was first out. In the second round Josh, Jason and Ramses were all eliminated leaving Cody and Jessica. Once again Cody threw a comp to allow Jessica to win.
Before the POV Ceremony Jessica picked up on the vibe that the house guests were planning on voting out Ramses instead of Josh. She brought her concern to Cody and wanted to take down Ramses and put up Alex to force the vote for Josh. Cody (whether because he still has a thing for Alex or because he truly is not a good social player - both are completely viable) convinced Jessica not to use the POV and leave the nominees the same.

Rankings
13. Ramses
Ramses has been a decent player this year but his poor social game has put him in this situation. He has continually tried to listen into conversations and gotten busted every time. Plus he put himself on Paul's radar by going back on his word not to try winning the POV the week that Cody was evicted. He has the feeling that he is going to be voted out tonight, and unless things change through the day he will be right.
12. Mark
Coming into the game I thought Mark would be one of the stronger players in the game. I was 100% absolutely, completely wrong. Not only does he have a horrible social game, he also has a horrible physical game. He has consistently changed sides depending on who was in power. In the first week he sided with Cody (until Cody threw his team under the bus), the next week he sided with Paul, the week after he sided with Alex. This week has gone back to Cody's side with Jessica being in charge. The house guests have taken notice. To top that off he has not been competitive in a single competition coming close to last in every single one.
11. Cody
Cody is back in the house and has not learned a thing. He still places himself over everyone else and still has the need to bully Josh at every opportunity. Since he has gotten back in the game Jessica has convinced him to be more outgoing and more engaging in the house. However, Jody still likes to spend as much time in the HOH room with the door locked as possible. On top of that, he convinced Jessica to make a boneheaded move and not changing nominations though she had the correct sense that the vote was being flipped.
10. Raven
Raven has continued to be completely unremarkable in this game. She does not really compete in any of the comps and her social game is essentially going where Matt goes and story tops everyone else. However, she has remained completely under the radar to this point.
9. Josh
Josh looks to be safe this week despite being the target of Jessica. Jody still believe that Josh is going out tonight despite Kevin essentially telling Jessica that was not going to happen. Josh has been acting moody all week to keep up that allusion. Every so often he has acted up with the encouragement of Paul and Christmas. Today he has been following Mark around banging pots and pans and saying that he wanted to connect with Mark. Why he is specifically targeting Mark and not Jody is a little odd but who knows why Josh does anything.
8. Jason
Jason continues to overthink everything in this game. He says that he is on board with the blindside ejection of Ramses instead of Josh, but this has not stopped him from questioning the plan to Alex. Alex continually tells him stop talking and trust the process. Jason is definitely the loudest person in the game. He has a fairly decent comp game and as long as he stays allied with Alex he should make it far in the game.
7. Elena
Elena has a surprisingly strong comp game which has pushed her up in the rankings. However, her social game is tied to Mark and that has hurt her in the game. He jumped ship from Alex and Paul and over to Jessica and Cody and for some reason Elena went with him. She loves Paul and hangs out whenever she can but she is going to be on the losing side this week. Whenever she comes into a room all game talk stops. I have long stated that getting into a showmance can ruin someone's game and Elena is a prime example.
6. Jessica
Jessica is another prime example of how a showmance can ruin a person's game. She is possibly the smartest player in the game right now, but because she has tied her game to Cody she is also a top target. Her social game is horrible because of this. However, she is extremely strong in comps and again has an amazing aptitude for what is going on in the house. Sadly, Cody continues to steer her wrong. She had a feeling on Sunday that the house was planning on flipping the vote and wanted to use the POV to force a vote for Josh. Cody convinced her not to use the POV. Jessica has only told Cody what power she has. She eluded to Kevin that she had a power but she was not fully forth coming, so even Kevin is not sure exactly what that power is. Paul has essentially guessed that Jessica has the power but she has not confirmed to him that he is right.
5. Christmas
Christmas continues to be a non target in the house despite having a broken foot. She is going to make it to jury without really doing anything. It is a shame because I figured she would be one of the strongest competitors in the game. She has essentially become Paul's ride or die in the game. Her social game is top notch.
4. Matt
There is one reason why I have Matt ranked so high. His social game. After Cody threw his game under the bus he immediately sided with Paul and has not left since. He voices his concerns but continues to go with Paul's plan. Not only is he safe for the jury house he is quietly becoming a favorite to make it to the end.
3. Kevin
Kevin is showing Cody how to truly play a rogue game. He is somehow aligned with every player in the game (outside Cody). He basically told Jessica that the plan was to vote Ramses out and Jody are still convinced that Josh is going out. He secretly voted out Jillian and not a single person ever suspected him of it. The same also happened with Cody when he secretly voted to evict Ramses (at Paul's request). He is absolutely horrible at comps but his social game is so strong I would not be surprised if he won America's favorite house guest this year. He may make it to the end but because of his bad comp play I do not expect him to win.
2. Alex
Alex originally joined with Paul to make sure that Cody and Dominique were thrown out of the game. At the time she did not seem fully invested in teaming up with Paul but now she seems completely connected. She is a strong comp player and social player. I could completely see her not only making it to the end of the game but also winning the game.
1. Paul
Paul is a veteran and will remain in the top spot until he is evicted from the game. He has controlled every single eviction in the game to this point. Several know this but they have yet to attempt to get him out. His side has the numbers but so far they have not shown up in comps (outside of him, Alex, and Jason). Even this week, Jessica holds all the power yet it looks like Josh is going to be safe despite being Jessica's target. And that is all owed to Paul.
Prediction
At this point I believe that Ramses will be evicted by a 7-3 vote with Cody, Mark, and Elena being the votes to evict Josh. Having said this it is within the realm of possibility of Christmas and Kevin flipping their votes which would end in a 5-5 tie with Jessica evicting Josh. They have stayed solid all week however. Strange things have happened on live eviction day when the feeds go off, yet this week the votes going into the day of the eviction have stayed mostly the same with only one vote changing each time. Kevin switching voted in Week 1, Christmas in Week 2. If that happens again tonight that will still be a 6-4 eviction of Ramses.
From the studying last night going on it sounds like this week's HOH comp is going to be a True-False of pictures the house guests saw of the first evictees, so more than likely the new HOH will be named during the show tonight. We will know for sure on how quick they get to the eviction. If the live eviction is somewhere between 7:40-7:50 the HOH will be decided on the show. Anytime after that and the comp will happen after the show and potentially not on the feeds either.

Eviction and HOH Results, Curse Reveal
By a vote of 7-3
Ramses was evicted. This came as no real shock. My only questions before the eviction were Jason, Kevin, and Christmas. Jason resolved that question after Cody threatened him if he did not vote to evict Josh. Everyone who said they were in on the plan voted to evict Ramses.
The HOH Comp occurred during the show and it was a True/False game involving pictures of the three evictees with different tattoos on their bodies. Elena, Mark, and Cody were the first three out of the game for wrong answers and with Jessica unable to compete the power was for the week was out of their hands. It came down to Paul, Raven, and Matt. With the only correct answer on the last question
Paul wins HOH for the second time this season. Jessica also revealed on the show that she had the final temptation and that her and Cody were safe for the next two weeks (I think she actually said three, but as this was the second week she should only have two left. This is, of course, if they treat her power the same as Paul's and this week didn't count because she was HOH).
Before the end of the show, Julie revealed the final "curse". For the next three weeks before the eviction (Thursday) the house guests will get to decide if they want to participate in a new game call Temptation Competition. I am still unclear if they have to vote as a house to participate or individually (I would imagine if it's individually they would need to have 3 or more decide to - just my guess). Whoever wins the competition is safe from eviction that week. Whoever loses goes up as a third nominee (it is also unclear at this point if third nominee wins POV and removes themselves from the block if the HOH would be able to replace them or not).
Correction
When giving the update about the Temptation Competition I stated that it would occur before the eviction. I was wrong, it occurs before the nominations. The house guests were informed this morning. It does sound like it is up to the individual house guests and as long as two house guests opt in they will hold the competition. Even though they are safe as long as Jessica has her power Jody have said they will not compete in any of the TCs. Paul, being HOH, is not able to compete.
HOH Noms and Temptation Comp (sort of) results
Paul nominated
Cody and Jessica (this is the 2nd nomination for both)
Still not entirely sure who actually competed in the Temptation Competition but the main results are that
Mark finally won a competition and is safe for the week.
Jason came in last in the competition and is now the third on the block.
There was a huge blow up in the house tonight that is causing Cody to consider either leaving the game or asking Jessica not to use her hex and let him get voted out.
If, however, Cody and Jessica make up I fully expect Jessica to use her hex which will cancel the eviction for this week.
Stay tuned.
POV Comp
Paul, as expected, won the POV. I am not expecting him to change the noms. It also sounds like Jessica fully plans to use her hex on Thursday which means no one goes home this week. In the past, when the show has done a "rewind" the HOH has been allowed to participate in the next POV.
Stay tuned.
POV Ceremony
Paul used the POV to remove Jason from the block, leaving Jessica and Cody. It is all but certain that Jessica will use her Hex to erase this week's eviction. She has told Paul exactly what the Hex involves, that if she uses it everyone on the block is safe from eviction. Paul is currently putting a lot of pressure on the other house guests to push Cody as much as possible to try to "break" him and either make him self evict or make Jessica not use the Hex. Personally, Paul should take his losses, let Jessica use the Hex and everyone just have a fun week of nothingness. That is not Paul's style, however, and he will work Jessica all the way up to the eviction show.
