Big Brother 19 Week 3 Recap and Updates
To no one's surprise Cody was evicted this week by a vote of 7-3. What did surprise is that one of the votes to keep him in the house was Christmas. At the time she was in a hospital bed recovering from surgery. She has not told anyone she voted to evict Ramses let alone explained why she did it. Everyone knows that Jessica voted to evict Ramses, but only Paul knows that Kevin was the second vote. He knows because he asked Kevin to vote that way. Considering how Cody threw Christmas under the bus in week one and almost got her evicted it is highly strange that she voted to keep him.
What is even more surprising is how angry she has been getting that people are still trying to figure out how the vote went. Most of the house guests believed that the vote would be 9-1, Paul believed it would be 8-2.
Cody and the rest of America was told after his eviction that he would have the opportunity to battle his way back into the house against Jillian, Cameron, and whoever was evicted this week. There is also an added twist that the house guests may be able to attempt to keep that said house guest from re-entering the house. Going with the seasons theme of temptation the house guests will be tempted not to allow the winner of the battle back into the house but that will also come with a curse that will affect the house as well. We will not find out until Friday's special show or even after.
HOH Comp
This week's HOH competition was a true endurance comp seen fully on the live feeds. Each house guest had to stand on a wall that rotated and they had to stay on the wall while water, wind, and some guy of goo was shot at them. Alex and Elena were the last two on the block and Alex made a deal with Elena that she would keep Elena and her people safe for the week. This, of course, was not a promise Alex could keep as Elena essentially named half the house that she wanted to keep safe. However, Alex agreed to the deal and Elena jumped off the wall giving Alex her first HOH.
Paul quickly got in Alex's ear about who he wanted on the block. This has been a running theme this season with Paul seemingly controlling every HOH, even when he was on the outs. Paul wanted Alex to put up Mark and Dominique on the wall, because Cody had told him that they were in on the attempt to get Paul out week 1. This, of course, was a lie as Cody did not discuss his game with anyone while he was HOH. Cody also told Christmas the same. This was an attempt by Cody to convince the two people he saw as the strongest players in the game that he knew who was coming after them all in an attempt to protect Jessica. Sadly, he played both Paul and Christmas like a fiddle and both of them believed him without talking to either Mark or Dominique.
In the end, Alex put up Dominique and Jessica with Dominique being the main target. The main reason Alex put up Jessica was to appear to be siding with the large alliance in the house, against Jason's wishes. This is the first nomination for both women.
POV Comp
For the POV Competition Jason, Alex, Christmas, Kevin, Jessica, and Dominique had to go across a suspended beam 30 times to win the competition. Christmas, however, was not cleared to play and had to sit out. Jason and Alex dominated the competition with Jason hitting 30 as Alex was crossing the suspension to get her 30th as well. If a player fell of the suspension their score was reset to zero. Kevin realized early that he was not going to be competitive so he opted to take the temptation and was awarded $27.
After much back and forth with Paul, Alex, and Jason attempting to convince Mark to go up as a pawn to ensure Dominique going home, Jason ultimately decided not to use the POV after Mark refused to go up but promised he would not campaign this week.
Den of Temptation
One of the house guests was tempted this week and there is a sin out there but whoever was tempted is not telling any of the house guests. The temptation this week is to stop an eviction. If Dominique ended up getting that temptation she can save herself tonight. Unfortunately with the feeds going down early today and not coming back up until after the Friday show we will not know who was offered the temptation until tonight's show, if even then.
Week of Drama
There was a high amount of drama this week. Dominique reacted to being nominated much the way I thought she would before the season. She let her emotions get the best of her. She called Paul out for being a snake (she is not completely wrong) without directly calling him out until the POV ceremony when he dressed up like a snake. She also, for some reason, called out Elena.
Before any of that happened she called a house meeting (NEVER a good idea) and preceded to say that someone in the house was a snake but saying who it was instead opting to be cryptic. In my experience watching this game over the years when someone on the block calls a house meeting they typically do not survive the week. Especially in this case where Dominique called the house meeting to call people out but actually did not call anyone out.
For most of the week she could be found in the lounge area addressing only the camera and preaching. She has been following the Jillian and Cody game book and not actually campaigning to stay in the house. This is a new strategy this year and frankly I do not understand it. If you find yourself on the block you do and say anything to stay in the house. Three weeks in a row this year we have seen that target not even attempt to campaign.
Then there was the fight between Josh and Mark. Since they have been in the house the two have been making bets over pool. In one case Mark won a game and Josh had to drink pickle juice for the week. During a pool game this week for some reason they got into an argument that ended with Mark throwing hot sauce all over Josh. I do not believe they were ever close to coming to blows but what is interesting is that when something like this happens the production crew is usually quick to yell "Stop that". This time they waited and for too long. When they finally yelled "Stop that" neither guy stopped. It took the house guests finally coming in between the two to get it to stop.
Even though Mark started the mayhem, Josh once again let his emotions get the best of him and in doing so put a brand new target on his back.

Rankings
13. Dominique
As I stated in the preview, the only thing that could damage Dominique's game would be her emotions. Upon being nominated she let her emotions get the best of her and quickly became a much larger target than Jessica. On the Wednesday show they featured a moment where Dominique said that she was speaking to God. In reality she was speaking in tongues. I say this because I did not recognize an actual language she was using. I do not know if other house guests have heard her do this but it was really a strange moment to include in the show. She held a house meeting (Paul actually called it before Dominique could) and made a bunch of allegations without actually naming any names. She saved that for the POV Ceremony where she called out Paul and Elena.
12. Jessica
So Jessica actually can play the game and get along with people when Cody is not dictating her moves. She became much more social in the house. She has been highly flirty with Matt which of course should rub Raven the wrong way. She made the decision to just lay low but also campaign. Her main goal is to remain a smaller target than Dominique. With Dominique losing her cool in the house, this could turn out to be a very good strategy.
11. Josh
Josh once again put another target on his back. He likes to dish out on people but is unable to receive what he gives. People are purposely pushing his buttons to see how far they can push him. Christmas, Paul, and Kevin have all taken him under their wings in an effort to calm him down, but he just can not seem to keep his emotions in check. This alone should destroy his game, but the fact that he has been absolutely horrible in competitions is making it much worse for him. Depending on who comes back in the house and who wins HOH he could very well be the target next week.
10. Mark
Mark is very close with Dominique (he refers to her as his sister) so this week has been a tough one for him. Add in the very unnecessary fight with Josh and he sunk a bit this week in the rankings. Not to mention he was second off the wall this week. Raven, who supposedly had stitches in her foot, outlasted him. He has no social game and his physical game has yet to show up either. He is in the same boat with Josh on that front, but manages to keep his emotions in check (that is until he goes to the Diary Room where he let's it all fly).
9. Ramses
The next three slots could be interchanged and make no difference. Ramses has been mostly invisible this week. He was hardly in Wednesday night's show (though outside of watching the POV Comp I do not actually remember seeing him the rest of the hour). He has managed to become invisible because he competed well in the HOH Comp and was not selected for the POV Comp.
8. Raven
I am not sure what to make of Raven anymore. She has a need to be a story topper (finding a way to top someone else's story with something even worse or better). Considering Paul and Christmas are also story toppers and better at it she has some mighty competition. She also has a need to over talk someone explaining something to explain the same thing. Two examples, Paul was asking Ramses about being a Jehovah's Witness and what beliefs he had because of it. Raven interrupted Ramses describing his own religion to explain it to Paul. The next day (maybe it has something to do with Ramses) Ramses was attempting use a blowy thing that Christmas got as part of her rehab (you have to blow into a tube and keep a ball floating). As Christmas was explaining this, Raven interrupted her to explain the exact same thing. I have a feeling she is beginning to rub people the wrong way.
I was also curious why Big Brother decided not to highlight Raven falling down the spiral staircase. It was not caught on camera but the house guests heard the fall or heard her reaction. This happened on Wednesday. She was supposed to get stitches on Thursday before the eviction. People have noticed that despite having stitches, Raven seems to go from limping to not limping. I am not doubting the injury but the severity of the injury. This may be why the show never aired anything about the injury.
7. Elena
Elena kind of put a target on herself after making a deal with Alex for Alex to win HOH and then literally naming almost half the house as people she did not want on the block. Then Dominique named her as being one of the snakes in the house. Her social game is relatively strong and she has been decent in the physical comps finishing second in the last HOH Comp.
6. Jason
Jason is only this high this week because he is allied with Alex, who is the HOH and he won the POV. His social game is horrible. He overthinks everything and openly doubts his allies in the game. He should be fine for the next few weeks but he could easily be targeted if he continues to cast doubts on what his allies are doing week in and out.
5. Christmas
Despite being injured and unable to compete in most comps Christmas should actually be higher on the list. The main reason she is not is because after being thrown under the bus by Cody in the first week she voted to keep him in the second week. She has not been discovered but she has kind of gone rogue. If Paul were to find out and she could not give a good enough reason for going against him she could easily find herself targeted before Jury. For the moment she is one of the stronger players in the game and she cannot even compete.
4. Matt
Matt has stayed true to his game and is flying under everyone's radar. Any time drama pops up in the house he is either trying to defuse it by bringing comedy to the situation or completely removes himself from the drama all together. He is not a target of anyone. He is also a good competitor in the comps so he is right where he needs to be.
3. Kevin
Paul may have been called out this week for being a snake but the true snake in the house is Kevin and it will get him far in the house. He won the $25,000 that allowed Paul into the house and everyone still suspects that it was Ramses. He switched votes in week one and voted to evict Jillian and no one suspects him. Only Paul knows that he voted to evict Ramses. He has quietly become one of the strongest players in the game. The fact that most of the house guests (guys and ladies) see him as a father figure he will go far in this game. At this point I do not see him making final two but he will get close. He could prove me wrong, because his game reminds me of the way Paul played last year. Paul finished second but never really had a chance to win. The difference to this point? Kevin is playing the game much better than Paul did last year.
2. Alex
The main reason I have Alex at this spot is because she is HOH and teamed up with Paul this week. Depending on how things go after the eviction I could definitely see her sliding back down to the middle of the pack. She has a strong physical game but she is allied with the wrong side of the house to this point. She could have made a big move this week but did not want to upset the power in the house and that is why Jessica is on the block.
1. Paul
Paul is doing what vets to the game do. He is pushing his will on the house. Outside of the 2nd week when he was HOH he has had a hand in almost every person on the block and all the evictions. It was his campaigning that got Jillian out of the house in Week 1, it was his campaigning and being HOH that got Cody out Week 2, and it looks like it is going to be his campaigning that gets either Jessica or Dominique out of the house this week. He somehow manages to not be a target (even though he has been safe for the first three weeks). With his safety ending tonight it will be interesting to see if he will be able to keep himself off the block or have a hand in another house guest being evicted.
Predictions
I honestly cannot get a read on who is going to be evicted. On three separate occasions yesterday Paul wanted to evict Dominique, then Jessica, then Dominique. There are ten votes this week so there is the possibility of a tie which would then cause Alex to cast the deciding vote. I am not going to give it a number this week but I do believe that Dominique will be evicted. Of course, remember that someone has the ability to cancel this week's eviction so we will just have to wait and see.

Eviction
Dominique was evicted by a vote of 10-0.
We also found out that Jessica was awarded with the halting hex. She can halt any eviction in the next four evictions. The fact that she did not use it for this eviction says that she knew she was safe going into the eviction. Either she was told she was safe and took everyone's word or she spilled the beans to someone that unless Dominique was sent home she would use the halting hex and no one would be evicted.
Feeds are down until 11 pm Friday night, so I literally have no idea what is going on in the house. There is a battle back between Dominique, Cameron, Jillian, and Cody on Friday night. At this point I am unsure if they are already playing the HOH or wait until the battle back is complete.
Battle Back
Dominique, Cody, Jillian, and Cameron went head to head in order to get back in the house in a battle back. In a twist this season whoever won the battle back would then have to face a house guest still in the game in order to get back into the house.
There were three stages. Cody and Cameron won the first stage eliminating Dominique and Jillian. Cody won the second stage eliminating Cameron. The house guests voted 11-1 to put Paul up against Cody (Paul was the only vote against which he had to). In the twist, if Paul won Cody would be eliminated for the season. If Cody won he would be back in the house.
And the winner ...
Cody is back in the house, which means (you guessed it) Jody is back. This also means that Jody will once against seclude themselves (and ruin Jessica's game yet again). This also means that they will trash the other house mates about how they turned their backs on Jody. They might want to ask Mark about backstabbing as Cody managed to stab him in the back twice in two weeks.
It certainly brings a whole lot of drama back into the house but also guarantees that two of the hour live feed cameras will constantly be aimed at Jody.
It is assumed that they are currently competing for HOH and that it should be concluded when the feeds come back on at 11 PM CT.
I THINK that unless Cody or Jessica win HOH tonight Cody may be out again (though Jessica does have the halting hex that she can use within the next three evictions).
It should also be noted that no one that has been evicted and then gotten back in the house in previous season has ever gone on to win the game. Typically some one evicted that gets back in the game is automatically targeted because the house had banded together to get them out. Naturally they no longer want that person back in the game and will do whatever they need to get them out.
HOH
Jessica won HOH so for the next week the HOH room will be locked so that Jody can seclude themselves yet claim that everyone is staying away from them. On top of that two cameras will be locked on Jody acting like teenagers and making out, so I will be down to only two cameras as I refuse to watch anything either person does.
Noms
Josh and Ramses are nominated (both for the 2nd time). I have no reason to believe that Paul isn't the target for the backdoor but Jody will be happy to get Josh out if Paul is saved during the POV.
POV
Jessica is on a role winning the POV and now having all the power this week. Right now it sounds like the plan is to leave nominations alone with Jody believing they have the votes to get out Josh. I still believe at this point of a complete blindside backdoor of Paul. Jody may be afraid that they do not have the votes to get Paul out this week, but it still would not surprise me if they have a go at it anyways and put him up, potentially removing Ramses from the block. That is what I would do.
POV Ceremony
Jessica did not use the POV and the nominations stay the same. As it stands right now Jessica's target is Josh yet the house is solidly behind getting Ramses out. Jessica had a bad feeling last night that if she left the nominations as is the house would vote out Ramses. Oddly enough, it was Cody that convinced her not to change the nominations as it would ruffle feathers. We shall see how the week plays out.
