  • I can feel you loss Mike. One day about 16 years ago a stray showed up in my yard. He may be Cocker/yellow lab mix. He turned out to be a great pheasant and quail dog. His presence predates my wife and kids.

We are the only males in our household, so the other don't understand. His hearing is beginning to fail, his eyes are taking on a grayish hue. He walks with a limp, yet never breaks his routine. He looks up at me with a face that says, "thank you for taking care of me". And I look back and tell him, "and thank YOU for taking care of me".

  • I am so sorry for your family's loss. Our pets are family and it is terribly difficult to lose them. Take care.

CPB the only solace that I can take with the quickness of Arlo's death is that he didn't have to go through the growing old phase of being a dog. The dog we had before Arlo by the time she passed was both blind and deaf.

Arlo had arthritis in his back legs but that was pretty much it. I'm brokenhearted that he is gone forever but thankful his death was peaceful with no pain.

I hope you have quite a few years left with your dog.

  • I had a pet for 12 years. That has been 25 years ago. I still miss that cat. Some pets are irreplaceable.

My sincerest condolences. I bet that old dog could make you smile and feel better with just a look and a lick.

His smile was unparalleled when you walked through the door.

I know how big a bummer it is for some of us pet lovers to lose our best friends. Sorry Mike.

  • Our "Arlo," known as VanDyke to this family for more than 14 years, has been repeatedly eulogized now for more than 16 years -- what a blessing those memories are yet today and may yours always be so for you.

  • It takes time to "heal the wounds" of a loss like Arlo. I still miss my last true companion and still can't replace my Towie.
